"Back to Back" as written by and Max Anthony Mcelligott....
When the whole world is sleeping
I still lie up in my bed
As I came round to thinking
That I don't want nobody else
I want to be with you
It kills me to say
That I want to be with you
That is just the way, it's just the way now

Sleeping with my back to yours
Back to back, back to back were strung out
Sleeping with my back to yours
Don't walk away don't walk away

When the whole world is thinking
That I must be depressed
The point that they're missing
Is that I don't want nobody else
I want to be with you
It kills me to say
That I want to be with you
That is just the way, it's just the way now

Sleeping with my back to yours
Back to back, back to back were strung out
Sleeping with my back to yours
Don't walk away, don't walk away

Back to back, back to back
Back to back, and back to back
Back to back, back to back

Sleeping with my back to yours
Back to back and back to back were strung out
Sleeping with my back to yours
Don't walk away, don't walk away

General CommentI think this is about Max being with someone he doesn't like, but he doesn't want to be with anyone else because he actually does like that person.
    if that makes sense

My InterpretationSeems to me like he really does love this girl, but he doesn't trust her because she has hurt him in the past...maybe she cheated on him. He's digusted with himself because he loves her too much to let her go, but he's lost his pride because he's decided he wants to be with her no matter what. He's sleeping with his back to hers because he's guarding himself from her until he can trust her again. He says "don't walk away" because he wants to work things out with her and doesn't want to lose her.

General CommentI have kind of a crazy interpretation.

I think the song is about a drug addiction, but he is personifying his drug as his lover.

But in order for that to be true, some of the lyrics on this site have to be wrong.

I don't think he says I still lie awake in bed, I think he says I still light up in my bed. (drugs)

Back to back, back to back were strung out. (drugs)

He's not saying that I must be a friend, hes saying that I must be depressed.

His friends think he's depressed because he's addicted to heroine, but really he just wants to be on heroine.

He keeps his heroine on his nightstand, hence sleeping with his back to it.

Or maybe I'm just on drugs...
