To the edge
Till we all get off
I will take you away with me
Once and for all

Time will see us realign
Diamonds rain across the sky
Shower me into the same realm

Calculate our embrace
Hold on (come with me now)
Right away, outer space with me
Once and for all

Time will see us realign
Diamonds rain across the sky
Shower me into the same realm
Time will see us realign
Diamonds reign across the sky
I will lead us to the same realm

When the coffin shakes
And the needle breaks
Come right away with me
Come on, you'll see
Once and for all

Time will see us realign
Diamonds rain across the sky
Shower me into the same realm
Time will lead us to the same realm
I will lead us to the same realm

This entire album is a masterpiece.

I never like to think of what the song means to the artist personally because that is their own influence for putting the piece together. Chino has stated on several occasions that his songs are open to interpretation, much like Maynard's work with Tool. Chino has also specified that this entire album was not written from his perspective but from another. Which begs me to question if this was really written about how he feels about Chi being in comatose and instead being written from Chi's perspective.

I think it deals with two separate entities still feeling each others presence and influence despite being in two different places (mentally, physically, spiritually) and how even though that bridge makes a divide of some kind, it can not last forever because the two separate entities are not destined to be apart.

As lame as it sounds, in short, I believe it is about a persons Soul Mate having direct effect without knowing it and how it will one day bring them together.

It makes sense that the title track would be for Chi, "Diamond Eyes" meaning glazed over. I hope he gets better soon.

"Time will see us realign Diamonds reign across the sky Shower me into the same realm"

he's saying chi will get better with time his eyes are a bit glazed like the sky in sacramento (used to live there) he's gonna be happy to tears when chi wakes up and comes back to the living world, or "realm"

"Calculate our embrace, hold on (Come with me now) Right away, all expense, with me"

counting the days till he can hug his buddy hello again beckoning him to wake up chino would give anything to have chino back with them

easy to see why its about chi, hell he's the reason i started playing bass all those years ago.

Thats a very good point, The owl makes me think of the movie the fourth kind, where the aliens were mistaken as owl before hypnotherapy, The album as a whole has alot of extra-terrestrial themes so.. possibly?

    My Interpretation

Please see my summary of each track. Basically I believe the album as a whole tells the following story:

On his deathbed at the end of the album, the human-turned god-turned human (Chi?) addresses his wife. The album has told us that she existed as goddess, complex priestess, DIAMOND EYES, over the Earth for a very long time before the man begged her to let him join her ranks. She let him into her ROYAL chambers, and impressed with his compassion for the Earth, made him her king and gave him CMND. He distracted her from her duties with the pleasures of Earth. She lost her purity when SHE SAW THE BUTCHER. She waived her immortality to be with him physically, and they had a son. When the PRINCE and Earthlings destroyed the planet, she was killed. Earth ROCKET SKATED into a state of hell. The only remnant of the beautiful past was the SEXTAPE. The Prince asked his father to take a RISK by opening old wounds and making an attempt at forgiveness. If the father ever wanted to forgive the son, who had committed evil, he was available at 976-EVIL. Earth was a PLACE OF DEATH because it managed to tempt and ultimately kill the complex priestess who had ruled for so long.

Am I full of shit, or is this the greatest story ever told?

This is such a beautiful song. It definitely is a new age philosophy song that gives a universal sense to understanding being in a high trance.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
