"Guns of Summer" as written by and Claudio Sanchez Travis Stever....
If this is my last chance, keep me
I don't need to go
You're better off without the misunderstanding
If I am displeasing, then leave me
a reason to what I want
Would I truly care if the truth would mean nothing?

Oh, have you been that crazy
or will the curtains save me?
Oh, my final call

No one will save us
You think that somebody cares
why the water is rising up?
Let the cleansing begin
Mother will they ever thank you?
Instead we hide behind these foolish lies
The teachers have told us otherwise

Cold as winter's guns of summer
Boy, watch them run
Summer is willing to breathe in the sun
This is your last chance, will you get out?

But in my turning towards the new
it is regarded in this old way
Will we face the truth or suffer again?

Now we have to break in the shower of souls
Rain down fire, burn us all!

No one will save us
Do you think that somebody cares
why the water is rising up?
Let the cleansing begin
Mother will they ever thank you?
Instead we hide behind these foolish lies
The teachers have told us other wise

Cold as winter's guns of summer
Boy, watch him run
Summer's willing to breathe in the sun
This is your last chance, will you get out?

Cold as winter's guns of summer
Boy, watch them run
Summer is willing to breathe in the sun
This is your last chance, will you give and run?
Summer is willing to breathe in the sun
This is your last chance, this is your last chance

(Cold as winter's guns) This is your last chance, will you give?
(Cold as winter's guns) This is your last chance, will you?
(Cold, cold) This is your last chance, will you give?
(as winter's guns) This is your last chance, will you?

General CommentTo me, the part with the question marks sounds like:

    "Allowing, as it breaks,
in the shower of our song."

But I'm not quite sure what that would mean. :) Also, in place of "soldiers," I hear "summers"/"summer's." It's always hard to tell with Claudio.

General CommentIf this is my last chance, keep me
    I don't need your jokes

    will the curtains save me?
    from my final call

    Point/Wait/Boy and watch them run
Summer's\Soldiers willing to breathe in her sun
This is your last chance, will you give up?

But in our turning towards the new
and disregarded then this old way
Will we face the truth or suffer again?
    ??? as it breaks [in](???)
    shower us all
Rain down fire and burn us all

    Just my guesses

Song MeaningThis song seems to be absolutely filled with Tool references. A lot of the riffs have a Tool feeling to them, and the solo especially - it sounds very similar to Sober. And the lyrics seem to reference the song Aenema - "You think somebody cares why the water is rising up? Let the cleansing begin. Mother will they ever thank you?" (Tool's song Aenema is about California falling into the Pacific Ocean and also refers to "Mother" Nature ["Mom, please flush it all away"]. And of course, it should be noted that Year of the Black Rainbow was produced by Joe Baressi, who mixed Tool's last album. I love how Claudio ties in references to other artists and songs in subtle ways. Like how the keyboards in When Skeletons Live totally sound like Fleetwood Mac. Year of the Black Rainbow is an amazing album...

Lyric CorrectionI'm 90% sure he says "Summers willing debris, in her sun"

It makes sense. If you've seen the cover of the book, it's pretty much a war/protest scene. It also goes with the rest of the lyrics.

    200% sure its:

If this is my last chance keep it
    I dont need your jokes
I'm better off without the misunderstanding

    95% sure after that its

If I have this reason to lead me

And unsure but I think the last line might be:

Would I truely care if you truely mean nothing

Cant understand the line between however.

General CommentWhy do I keep forgetting stuff. UGH.

"Oh have you made me crazy
Or will the curtain(s) save me
    From my final call"
