"The Throat of Winter" as written by and Mikael Lars Akerfeldt....
The throat of winter is upon us
And the cold will linger in me

A shield on the eternal river again
Our fevered bodies will return
To the bowels of the vast decrepit earth

The devil spoke and called you to his side

Never will return again
Never will I see the rain

Never will return again
Never will I see the rain

The throat of winter

A demigod is observing us through child-like eyes
And his hordes are returning now
A demigod is observing us with child-like eyes
And his hordes are returning now

General CommentThe part about the demi god is reffering to Kratos, because this song was made for the God of War: Blood and Metal album. The shield on the eternal river is reffering to the river Styx. Our fevered bodies will return means is talking about how Kratos has returned from death. To bowels of the vast decrepit earth means there going to send quite a few people to the underworld. The devil spoke to you and called to his side is probably reffering to how Kratos served Ares. Never will return again means he isn't going to serve the gods any more. Never will I see the rain is probably talking about how he will never be happy again. And like funeraldancer said the throat of winter is probably about pain, most likely the pain Kratos feels. A deimgod is observing us with child-like eyes is probably talking about how Kratos is watching the gods. And his hoardes are returning is talking about how Kratos and has the brought the titans with to future to destroy the gods. So that's my interpretation of the song, who knows, this may or not be right, but I figured I would sate my opinion to try and solve the mystery that are the lyrics of this song.
