"Sweepstakes" as written by Damon Albarn, Jamie Hewlett and Dante Smith....
Pay day, you're a winner
Pay day, you're a winner
Keep cool from my line
Scar'd money broke money
Bow money mo' money
So sunny, cloud breaker
Sound make a wave runner
While funky drummer
You can get it how you want it

There's nothing as dealers and players and me
They say that they're winners
Okay well let's see
You play there you play
The rules of the trade
The math of the date
The times and the age
But you want how you like
Hey my man why not?
Sun Moon Stars y'all
Ditching all the y'holes
Mathematics and dealers and players and me
They say that they're winners
Okay well let's see

Sweepstakes (sweepstakes)
You're a winner
Sweepstakes
You're a winner
Sweepstakes
You're a winner
Sweepstakes
You're a winner
Sweepstakes
You're a winner
Sweepstakes
You're a winner

Pay day, you're a winner
Keep cool from my line
Scar'd money broke money
Bow money, more money
So sunny, cloud breaker
Sound maker, wave runner
Why wonder, funky drummer
You can get it how you wanted it
Who's the winner, said the dealer
Every player yeah me
So you say we will see
Player play, hey ok
Whatcha want, how d'you like?
Hey m'ha why not?
Sun Moon Stars y'all
Ditching every alley y'all

The times and the age
But you want how you like

General CommentI think this is a statement about how our society is designed and the myth about "anyone being able to do what they want, if only they make it so". Everything is organized in a pyramidal structure, hierarchical, classes, etc.

We're told everyone can win the lottery (sweepstakes), but in reality, if you want to win, a lot more people have to lose. That's how it's set up. That's the organization of a "civilized" society, compared to a nature-based indigenous society which has been proved to work the best in the sense that it provides every member their birthright of basic needs - not a pyramid scheme!

    General CommentGambling and carnival games.

"Who's a winner/said the dealer"- Dealer's asking a group of people around a table playing a card game who has the best hand.

"Every player/Yeah me"- Every player thinks that he or she has the best hand.

"So you say/we will see"- Dealer is asking every player to reveal his hand, to see the winner.

"Pay or play/A-Okay"- You win or you lose. You lose, you pay. You win, you keep playing.

"The math of the day"- Probability is math. Those who know how to play the probability will win.
"Aim high man, why not?"- Those who don't know the probability will bet high. Their reasoning? "Why not?"

"Payday! You're a winner! Keep cool, form a line!"- Step right up! Everyone's a winner! Form a line, now! One at a time!

SunMoonStars is the GAMES master on Plastic Beach. "His" song is, of course, going to be about games.

    *might be "Pour money"

**I do believe it's "feats", like in Gorillaz feat. Mos Def... ;>

I know not every word, or even line, is correct, but I'm having a hard time kinda putting it all into context. Bet there's a lot of expressions and other stuff that I don't know about simply because I'm not english. Not sure what "the times in/to/and the eight/eights" is all about either. Snooker/pool? Counting cards? Obviously about some form of gambling, about how money is everything today, lots of casino references in there. Not sure that's the entire meaning of this song though, that "big feats"-bit got me confused... Might also have something to do with the album in itself. Awesome song anyway!

    & :
    you pay or you play

    &:
aim high why not instead of hey m'ha why not

i'm not sure exactly what this song is about, but i like the sleazy horns & the tone of mos def when he says "you're a winner". so deep.

Song Meaningin one of the lines he says:
    "Sun Moon Stars y'all
    Ditching every alley y'all
    Who's the winner? Yeah me"

sun moon stars is the games master of plastic beach(the grim reaper looking dude in the stylo video and 2D's ident) this means that he is ripping people off and ditching them, also the sweepstakes is a carnival like game as seen in this picture: tinypic.com/r/16bkbb7/…

Song MeaningWhen I hear this song, I think about all the times I've sold pot. Very fast paced, no time to think, one thought behind twenty or 30 actions.

Here's my proof that the artist was thinking the same thing:
"Scar'd money, broke money" - Paranoia ruins deals, you can't make money if you don't take the risk.
"There's madmen and dealers and players and me" - madmen are customers and competition, dealers are the ones with alot of product, players are the one's that connect everyone.
"you player, you play, the rules of the trade"- The drug trade is often referred to as "the game" by those who are playing it.
"keep cool, form a line"- Forming a line to get their fix. A line is the way drugs are distributed. First there's someone with a pound broken into ounces, then the ounces broken into grams and so on. Those in power with alot of product try to keep those below them in line.

I may add more to this later, but I'm pretty content with this expanation
