"Plastic Beach" as written by Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett....
To the dark dark seas
Comes the only whale
Watching ships go by
It's the day we try

It doesn't know

It's a Casio on a plastic beach
It's a Casio on a plastic beach
It's a Styrofoam deep sea landfill
It's a Styrofoam deep sea landfill
It's automated computer speech
It's automated computer speech
It's a Casio on a plastic beach
It's a Casio

If they hold you, whale
On a really hot day
When the call got made
You've gone away

It doesn't know

It's a Casio on a plastic beach
It's a Casio on a plastic beach
It's a Styrofoam deep sea landfill
It's a Styrofoam deep sea landfill
It's automated computer speech
It's automated computer speech
It's a Casio on a plastic beach
It's a Casio

It's a Casio on a plastic beach
It's a Casio on a plastic beach
It's a Styrofoam deep sea landfill
It's a Styrofoam deep sea landfill
It's automated computer speech
It's automated computer speech
It's a Casio on a plastic beach
It's a Casio

General Comment"Jamming out to synthesized music on Plastic Beach" is the picture I'm getting from this song.
2D wearing his swim trunks, wailing on a keyboard, while drinking some absurdly alcoholic drink..

General CommentCasio makes hundreds of thousands of electronic products, chances are any number of electrical devices you own have some casio parts inside. This song is specifically about a Casio brand synthesizer that was used to help make this album.

    General CommentThis song is trippy...
What a great album in my opinion.
It's a shame about that floating landfill in the ocean. That's the only thing this song can be about.
    It's what the album's about.
Styrofoam, plastic, trash, scraps all collected in the ocean like an island.

General Commentlol contrary to popular belief, this album and song is NOT about earth-friendly-green-global-warming-awareness or none of that, a direct quote from murdoc from the website ->

"But y’know, I want to clear this up. 'Plastic Beach'. It's not a green record. It's not a judgement on the world. It's just a picture. Plastic Beach: it's another place, another way of looking at the world. And this is its soundtrack...."

and a quote from Albarn ->

"I've always felt, I'm trying to get across on this new record, the idea that plastic, we see it as being against nature but it's come out of nature. We didn't create plastic, nature created plastic. And just seeing the snakes like living in the warmth of decomposing plastic bags. They like it."

General CommentThe only information I can find on Casio is that it's a company that makes cameras, watches and calculators... why Casio? Maybe because they're plastic?

General CommentBallinbenji, Casio also makes musical instruments (primarily electric pianos, I think). Pretty sure that's what they're referring to.

General CommentAnyone know why 2D is afraid of whales?
I think it has something to do with the actual meaning of this.

Also, artists don't always say exactly what they mean
if you look at Andy Warhol for example everything he said about his art was sarcastic and mocking of his true ideals
perhaps you're judging Gorillaz too quick saying there's no environmental concern
when you think about it, Gorillaz are a set of characters meant to show a point
they aren't precisely the point and shouldn't have a literal meaning

So maybe Albarn did say that, what did he mean though?
