I would have done anything, to keep your love,
I couldn't tell you how much I've told you;
You could search anywhere, and not find this,
But you threw it away to be self destructive;

And then you tell me that everything has changed,
That's when I realized that life won't be the same;
'Cause you've been the wildcard in everything I do,
But I wasn't trying hard to stay in love with you;

You fall for convenience and I fall too hard,
And I'm hoping for someday, knowing it's too far;
The victory's sweet, but it never remains
When feelings are mutual, then collapse;

And then you tell me that everything has changed,
That's when I realized that life won't be the same, no;
'Cause you've been the wildcard in everything I do,
But I wasn't trying hard to stay in love with you;

Second chances they don't come that often,
When you're holding on to just a dream;
Hoping everything isn't forgotten,
But I know that it's not what it seems,
But I know that it's not what it seems,
And I know what it's not what it seems,
And I know what it's not what it seems, what it seems, what it seems, what it seems...

'Cause you've been the wildcard in everything I do,
But i wasn't trying hard to stay in love with you;

'Cause you've been the wildcard in everything I do,
But I wasn't trying hard to stay in love with you, to stay in love with you.

    My InterpretationThis song is about unrequited love. He loves her and he's told her everything about himself. It wasn't hard for him to feel this way about her, but she breaks it off. But she comes back, more than once it seems, and for awhile he feels like he used to. So basically she's the "wildcard" because he never knows what her next move is, but he loves her enough to want to wait for her even though he knows she'll never love him the way he loves her.

    I could be wrong.
