"Runnin'" as written by Teron David Carter, Stacy Bernard Jones, Otto Montgomery Price Jr., Ric Robbins and Latoya Kathleen Vinson....
{Justice league)

The loser microphone abuser
Feet hurtin' I just walked from Jerusalem
So you should get on the side with the movement
I'm the proofs and I'll die just to prove it

Whatcha wanna know? Anything whatever.
I can't tell ya
I can show ya better
Me and my gun, we took an oath together
Said I will never die, if we both together
Yeah, this is my testification
I'm Wayne on their hands like precipitation
And in hell you, you need justification
But, but for me it was just a vacation

Somebody tell me when's it gonna end
Where's it gonna end up
Runnin'
Runnin'
Runnin'
Runnin'
Runnin'
Run it all
When's it gonna end
Where's it gonna end up
Runnin'
Runnin'
Runnin'
Run it all

I lost all my money
I lost half my mind
Can't find my direction
Where's the finish line
Could I be far away from it all
How far to go
If I can stay for it all
Then I shouldn't fall.

But if I fall I fall up
And let the clouds hug me
And if I fall down
I bet I hit the ground runnin'
Bet you search and found nothing
Looking for the finish line
Stop short cuttin'
You fucking up your finish time
Shit, but every twice in a while
It feels like I'm runnin'
And life is the miles
Yeah, but until the lights dimmin' down
I'll be runnin' 'round
Runnin'
Runnin'
Runnin'

(Oh, will you tell)
Somebody tell me when's it gonna end
Where's it gonna end up
Runnin'
Runnin'
Runnin'
Runnin'
Runnin'
Run it all
When's it gonna end
Where's it gonna end up
Runnin'
Runnin'
Runnin'
Run it all

Counting all my pennies but it doesn't add up
At the mercy but somehow it ain't enough
Reading all the red lights trying not to give up
But I don't know how long it's gonna last all

It's almost over now
I say it's almost over now
The end is gettin' closer now
Better do what you suppose to cause
The world is all so short

Somebody tell me when's it gonna end
Where's it gonna end up
Runnin'
Runnin'
Runnin'
Runnin'
Runnin'
Run it all
When's it gonna end
Where's it gonna end up
Runnin'
Runnin'
Runnin'
Run it all
When's it gonna end
Where's it gonna end
Runnin'
Run it all

Yeah I'm runnin' outta time
I'm runnin' out of space
Fell like I'm runnin' round
But I'm runnin' in place
We all in the race
I'm just another sprinter
If there's no finish line
Then who's the real winner?

General CommentReally no one's posted on this.

This song has so much meaning, and the lyrics are just amazing. "Imma Wayne on their heads like precipitation." Only lil wayne can right shit like that.

Anyway the meaning is pretty much understandable I don't need to break it down.

My InterpretationThe video for this song is really great, it shows many hot topic issues of today. Everything from war to torture to Muslim/Jewish tensions. This song has very clear, very powerful meaning to me.

The opening line mentions the crisis in the Middle East with "Jerusalem" and then goes on to ask where the "finish line" is. The finish line is symbolic of the end of life or of war. Pick your preferance.

"I say, it's almost over now/ The end is gettin' closer now/ Better do what you're suppose to" is a great exmple of Wayne saying the end is near after asking when it would all end.

But my favorite line is, "Feel like I'm runnin' 'round but I'm runnin' in place/ We all in the race, I'm just another sprinter/ If there's no finish line then who's the real winner?"

This says that we are all just small pawns in a huge game that we simply have no control over. It also explains that if there is no finish line, how can the race have a winner? If you look at the "finish line" through the eyes of death, it means there's no way to avoid or postpone the inevitable. If you view "the finish line" as a matter of war, it means that no good can possibly come of the blood shed.

I hope this was somewhat helpful for anyone, and it's only what the song means to me personally.

    Take care!

General CommentThis song to me, rings with power and meaning, if not lyrically, at least musically. Is is rather untraditional of lil wayne.

To me the lyrics mean this- It is being overwhelmed with the negative things about life, whether that be war, oppression, greed, chaos, trying to find acceptance and not finding it, etc. He expressed that "some times "It feels like I'm runnin' and life is the miles." Life is a hard road with many long miles.

"Yeah, but until the lights dim and down - (but until the end of life)
I'll be runnin' around, runnin'(he aint gonna give up/.)

Evidence that he's walked a long road already stuggling for "freedom" (in his case probably socially or spiritually or whatever) is conveyed in his lines "feet hurtin i just walked from jerusalem." Comparing himself to those searching for religious freedom in the mideast.

"Whens it gonna end" (frustration with the difficulties)

"Gatherin my pennies" the typical struggle for prosperity in life.

"We all in the race- im just another sprinter" (yep, we all have to run the race of life).

"Bet you searched and found nothin', lookin' for the finish line
Stop short cuttin', you fuckin' up your finish time"

(No shortcuts in life, you gotta live it).

The end is gettin closer- in this case referring to the end of the world- not the end of personal life, but the end of everyones life, so in your personal life get your act together.

    yep!
