Samantha... You swore,
You'd never turned that trick before.
Keep waiting... For war,
You'll never win, you'll lose again.

I won't swing the balance in your favour...
Your defeat is my favourite flavour...

Samantha...
You wore me out.
Samantha...
You used me up.

Samantha... Your war,
Was a lost cause before I came.
Keep praying... Pray for,
The pretty things you won't get back.

Steal my soul and stab my back once more...
But you'll come from dark alleyways to score...

Once more...

Samantha...
You wore me out.
Samantha...
You burned me down.

But look in my eyes, there's nothing there.
Goodbye...
Wanted you all, with my whole life.
Goodnight...
Wanted your life...

Samantha...

Well no one can regain,
Your innocence again,
And your sins are pouring down,
Like rain...

But I love your angry pain...

Go and hit the streets again,
Cause theres nothing here for you...

Leave the money by the bed,
In the gutter where you live!
And I'll throw it all away!
Yeah, I'll throw it in your face!

And if you were on fire,
I would just throw kerosene!
And I love so much I hate!
And I hate what you have seen of me!
Samantha!

(*Echoes*
You wore me out...
Samantha...
You used me up...
*Echoes*)

You used...
Oh, don't look back,
Baby, don't look back,
Baby, don't look back to me.

Baby, don't look back,
Baby, don't look back,
Baby, don't look back at me.

And I live in this hole,
And I die in this cage,
And, oh, you hold the keys to the zoo.

And I don't wanna go,
But I can't seem to come,
And it's not up to me,
It's up to you.

And the plane is on fire,
And we're all gonna die,
And we're all going down this time.

You can lead a whore to water,
You can lead a whore to freedom,
But you can't drink away whats mine.

Samantha...

About a girl that loved her Brother and Mother, a Mother that was hooked on Heroin and Cocaine that had 4 kids. The first one to be giving away, ask of the father the mother would say a mistake a sin i will pay for this one was the icon i gave away... The second not long after the first A lost soul with a family and a dad of fame in one hand and a Dad of mystery in the other??? Hooked on heroin young in life with cocaine, speed and pills with this he dies before his time. He lived a good life a fight till the end for love and understanding from a good friend. Along comes the third a girl so blond with daddy on coke and mommy spoon in hand of heroin. Born, of foul creation Born, of sour milk Coke and filth Samantha with kids of her own most of time she is in jail and working the escort papers to pay for speed. With a hunger for money Watch her wrap her legs around this world. A girl sad over her brother dying while she was in Jail So you think that you could save him And we know that someone died Oh, an unkindness of ravens And we know that Mary lied the mother of the 4 kids so many lies... So dare she speak out Samantha you swore You never turned that trick before Keep waiting for a war You'll never win You'll lose again So dare she speak out And if you were on fire I would just throw kerosene Cause I love so much I hate And I hate what you have seen in me Lets not for get the 4th a boy in jail always in jail not much to speak of... Ha I thought it sounded good

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
