"Annabel" as written by and Shawn/lee Milke....
How does the dagger feel now when you're on the receiving end?
If this is what you call betrayal.
Then this is what I call revenge.

How could I be so blind?
I guess I fell in love too quickly
But I'm fine.

Imagine where you'd be now if you only knew.
If you only knew
The one you love is the one who's killing you.
I trusted you too much.
I know now that I should have kept my eyes wide open.
The first time that we kissed.
I'll bury you for this.

Just say to me
That this time is the last time.
And I'll pretend that
Somehow I know we'll be fine.

Years spent watching in silence as your illness spilled onto page.
Those were the last days I spent with you.
Before you left, before he came.

Just say to me that
This time is the last time.
And I'll pretend that I'm fine.

Ohh is it my fault?
You fell into the illusion you've been living discretely.
Ohh should I blame you in the end?
Did you ever think the sketches would take over completely?

Ohh is it my fault?
Ohh is it my fault?

Die!
Just die!
You are scum!
You are filth!
Choke on blood as your knife
Ends the show!
Writhe in pain you thought
You'd never know!

I don't think they dig graves close enough to hell for the likes of you!
I don't think they dig graves close enough to hell for the likes of you!

I handed you a knife and my heart ohhh!
I handed you a knife and my heart ohhh!
And now the dream is over.
And now the dream is over.

I handed you a knife and my heart ohhh!
I handed you a knife and my heart ohhh!
And now the dream is over.
And now the dream is over.

How could I be so blind?
I guess I fell in love too quickly...
But I'm fine.

Imagine where you'd be now if you only knew.
If you only knew
The one you love is the one who's killing you.
I trusted you too much.
I know now that I should have kept my eyes wide open.
The first time that we kissed.
I'll bury you for this.

I handed you a knife and my heart ohhh!
I handed you a knife and my heart ohhh!
And now the dream is over.
And now the dream is over.

    General CommentAwesome owlwings!

His illness spilled onto the page..he was going crazy, but she stayed, she wanted to be with him, but it overtook him and he just went into full on psycho mode..and he killed her..but now shes getting revenge..and shes asking him imagine where he would be if he knew she would be the one to kill him..so..is it safe to say that Annabel didnt rlly die? Maybe only in his eyes? She was no longer his, maybe she left him?

And about the sketches, was the part of him being crazy? Maybe he was sketching out his acts of violence, and they finally took over?

    This cd is amazing.

Song MeaningHey Guys, Okay, well, I read the story and stuff, and also I suspected the same thing before I read it.

The song is from Annabel's Point of view, The artist was going insane and was in a world of his own, While the other personality took over(before you left, before he came.) and well, To the artist, all the events from 'curse of the virgin canvas' all the way to 'to be scared by an owl' were only a few days. But in reality, it was a Year, and Annabel was watching the artist go insane, uttering complete nonsense and Sketching Violent pictures, and he would be a complete different person, like a lunatic, one fine day, The Artist's Insane Personality tried to Kill Annabel (in the artist's mind he was fighting the thespian) and Annabel somehow was able to fight back and stab the artist in the side(how does the dagger feel now when you're at the receiving end?), and the artist woke up from the dream of him fighting the thespian and he woke up staring into a mirror in his own room, like as though it was the same morning he found annabel dead, but annabel was behind him with a dagger plunged into his side. The artist dies. Then Annabel Explains that The Artist killed himself when he let the madman take over him, and she said the madman took shelter in the mind of her lover and killed him, and he failed when he thought the knife he held at me would kill me, the knife I now hold in my hand.

General CommentThis song is from the viewpoint of Annabel, the guy's girl. She kills him in the end because he was going crazy. The Artist and The Thespian are the same guy, he just went psycho. Thats how I see it anyways.

General CommentOh..and "before you left, before he came"..thats before he became crazy?

I was also thinking, what if it was something like..Annabel betrayed him, and he wanted revenge and obsessed over getting her back, and it just drove him crazy until he finally went on a rage and killed everyone..then himself where he then found her again? Idk.

i believe kennysplatter has the right idea but a lil fact is that they try to relate to edgar allan poe. he has a poem called "Annabel Lee" it goes
It was many and many a year ago
In a kingdom by the sea
That a maiden there lived whom you may know
By the name of Annabel Lee
And this maiden she lived with no other thought
than to love and be loved by me
I was a child and she was a child
In this kingdom by the sea
But we loved with a love which was more than love-
    I and my annabel Lee
With a love that the winged seraphs of heaven
    Coveted her and me
And this was the reason that long ago
In this Kingdom by the sea
A wind blew out of a cloud, chilling
    My beautiful Annabel Lee
So that her highborn kinsmen came
And bore her away from me
To shut her up in a sepulchre
In this kingdom by the sea
The angels, not half so happy in heaven
    Went envying her and me-
Yes!- that was the reason (as all men know,
In this kingdom by the sea)
That the wind came out of the cloud by night,
Chilling and killing my Annabel Lee
Bout our love it was stronger by far than the love
Of those who were older than we-
Of many far wiser than we-
And neither the angels in heaven above
Nor the demons down under the sea
Can ever dissever my soul from the soul
    Of the beautiful Annabel Lee
For the moon never beams without bringing me dreams
    Of the beautiful Annabel Lee
And the stars never rise but i fell the bright eyes
    Of the beautiful Annabel Lee
And so, all the night-tide, I lie down by the side
Of my darling-my darling-my life and my bride
In her sepulchre there by the sea,
In her tomb by the sounding sea.

Im not sayin the whole cd is about him but thats where they generated the idea from Poe is a dark and mysterious artist her often rights about going crazy, murder, suicide and shcitzophrenia.

General CommentHe doesn't kill her. That was part of the insanity that the Artist was feeling. He made up an alter-ego the "Thespian" that he imagined killed her. And fell into his own little world. This song is about Annabel finally realizing that he is too far gone, and he tries to kill her. She kills him first.

General CommentI know the whole story inside and out, but I just realized something . The events that took place throughout the fews days when The Artist went on his killing rampage and everything was actually a year's time in reality. What I just thought of is that it took a year for the complete insanity to develop within him and for him to sketch out his own story and idea of what happened in "a few days time"

    Song Meaningan Album Explanation
Upon walking by a pub, the devil discovers a couple whose love was truly pure, being who he was he had a natural inclination to destroy such love. He hatches a devious plan, one that will drive a man to the brink of insanity and back, twice. Possessing the poor soul he alludes him to the fact that it wasn't himself, but indeed lucifer who stole his loves life. In a guilt fueled rage with much encouragement from the devil and his minions the poor misguided soul begins a killing spree, only to be cut short by an encounter with his dear Annabel. At this point he temporarily regains his sanity, but not for long. The fleeting, yet blissful meeting ended abruptly, almost as soon as it began. Followed by a visitor of completely different sorts.
In a bitter and deceitful meeting the devil offers him an irresistible stipulation His soul in return for Annabel. After realising treachery and foul play, the cheated man is reunited with his Annabel, who has returned in an ethereal form otherwise known as an angel. Eager to truly be one with his love again, he considers suicidal actions and soon learns a more retributional path. Allied with his soul-mate, they engage in a heated head to head stand off with the devil himself. The troubled lover is murdered. He ascends to heaven, where all his misdeed are forgiven. Upon his arrival he is reunited with his lover. Right where they left off in their past life, living oblivious to to the fact that there love was so powerful it defeated evil himself.
p.s this may be wrong, but it felt fight on paper...

well i think this is a story about a boy that was really obsessed with this
girl.he didnt wanted to share or let go of her.so he decides to kill her.but
as soon as he realizes what he had done he goes insane and cant believe what he
had done.annabel's image haunts him down so that he could see his crime.but its
hard for him to admit it.and now blames annabel for what he had committed.
