"Thumper" as written by Roughton Reynolds, Chris Batten, Liam Rory Clewlow and Robert Rolfe....
Yes, axiomatic subject matter
Executed with absolute lucidity

We can't keep deferring action
Only surviving by the skin of our teeth
We can't keep deferring action
Only surviving by the skin of our teeth

We're sick of the same old story
Tonight the motionless must vacate
So we can accelerate out of a stagnant society

We're sick of the same old story
Tonight the motionless must vacate
So we can accelerate out of a stagnant society

We will, we will never be sane
We will, we will never be sane
We will, we will never be sane
In an unsane system

Keep the tempo up, keep the pressure on
(Keep the tempo up)
Keep the tempo up, keep the pressure on
(Keep the tempo up)
Will someone take the first step?
Be brave, cave in

"Alright, I admit it, we are totally lost"
Imagine that!
And then they'd say:

"We've lost the movement, we've lost the beat
We got so tied up in making a profit
That we choked when we realised what was at our feet"

"We've lost the movement, we've lost the beat
We're all made of the same dark matter
It's intrensic that we rise to our feet"

"We'll start a movement, we'll start a beat
We're all made of the same dark matter
It's intrensic that we rise to our feet"

We're sick of the same old story
Tonight the motionless must vacate
So we can accelerate out of a stagnant society

We're sick of the same old story
Tonight the motionless must vacate
So we can accelerate out of a stagnant society

We will, we will never be sane
We will, we will never be sane
We will, we will never be sane
In an unsane system

Keep the tempo up, keep the pressure on
(Keep the tempo up)
Keep the tempo up, keep the pressure on
(Keep the tempo up)
Will someone take the first step?
Be brave, cave in

We're sick of the same old story
Tonight the motionless must vacate
So we can accelerate out of a stagnant society

We're sick of the same old story
Tonight the motionless must vacate
So we can accelerate out of a stagnant society

We can't keep deferring action
Only surviving by the skin of our teeth
We can't keep deferring action
Only surviving by the skin of our teeth

General CommentThis sounds like a pretty straight-forward song. Society is doing everything wrong, and will eventually fall apart. I think this song is just saying that people need to straighten out before things go to hell. Sorry if this was a little vague.

General CommentWorth reflecting on the title - I suspect but cannot evidence that the band intends with the title to reference Dune, where a device called a Thumper is used to attract sandworms in a revolutionary context. The comparison between the rhythmic thumping created by the Thumpers in Dune and the beat/tempo referenced in and part of the song may be the intent.

Does anyone know who or what is being referenced by "OK, I admit it, we are totally lost"? On first listening I assumed this was sampled from somewhere.
