"American Honey" as written by and Hillary Lindsey Shane Stevens....
She grew up on a side of the road
Where the church bells ring and strong love grows
She grew up good
She grew up slow
Like American honey

Steady as a preacher
Free as a weed
Couldn't wait to get goin'
But wasn't quite ready to leave
So innocent, pure and sweet
American honey

There's a wild, wild whisper
Blowin' in the wind
Callin' out my name like a long lost friend
Oh I miss those days as the years go by
Oh nothing's sweeter than summertime
And American honey

Get caught in the race
Of this crazy life
Tryin' to be everything can make you lose your mind
I just wanna go back in time
To American honey, yea

There's a wild, wild whisper
Blowin' in the wind
Callin' out my name like a long lost friend
Oh I miss those days as the years go by
Oh nothing's sweeter than summertime
And American honey

Gone for so long now
I gotta get back to her somehow
To American honey

Ooo there's a wild, wild whisper
Blowin' in the wind
Callin' out my name like a long lost friend
Oh I miss those days as the years go by
Oh nothin's sweeter than summertime
And American honey
And American honey

General CommentThis is a song is about a girl who grew up in a small town, moved away and realized how stressful her new life is. She wishes she could go back to the slow paced life she had always known.

General CommentIt's about growing up and wanting to go back to those days, back to american honey, as the song puts it. When youu've grown up you're ready to get going, but at the same time, not quite ready to leave.

General CommentThis song sounds to me like it's about a young lady who was raised out in the country with good character qualities. I love the line that says "So innocent, pure, and sweet/American Honey." It's so beautiful and poetic. One of my all-time favorite country songs.

General CommentGreat, just what we need. More mediocre filler for country radio. Of course, Lady Antebellum could sing the alphabet or something then it would suddenly become a billboard hit. Disappointing.
