"Look Alive" as written by Daniel Brown, Alfie Scully, Liam Cromby, Jack Spence and Tom Whittaker....
I am hoping that today I'll learn how to live my life
But I can't, can't, can't see past this crowd,
But I know, that I can feel it, yeah I can feel it.

I'm always looking for an answer, something to tell me who I am
And I'm always looking to the mirror, there's no one there so I'll pretend.

I don't want to be like everyone else,
They by the same rules, they've got it all figured out.
Follow me through the crowd right now, follow me through the crowd right now.

But I know that I can feel it, yeah I can feel it.

I'm always looking for an answer, something to tell me who I am.
And I'm always looking to the mirror, there's no one there so I'll pretend.
There's no one there so I'll pretend.

Let's all make out that we're somebody else,
Let's all make out that we're somebody else.
Let's all make out that we're somebody else,
Let's all make out that we're somebody else.

I'm always looking for an answer, something to tell me who I am.
And I'm always looking to the mirror there's no one there so I'll pretend.

I'm always looking for an answer, something to tell me who I am.
(Let's all make out that we're somebody else,
let's all make out that we're somebody else)
And I'm always looking to the mirror, there's no one there so I'll pretend.
(Let's all make out that we're somebody else,
Let's all make out that we're somebody else)

My InterpretationI think this song is quite literal. It's about growing up and growing to be the person you really are, understand who you really are.

"I am hoping that today I'll learn how to live my life
    But I can't, can't, can't see past this crowd,"

The speaker wants to finally be himself but he can't see "past the crows" with their expectations of him and what they like. There is a tension between the desire to being liked by (all) people and being yourself.

"I'm always looking for an answer, something to tell me who I am
And I'm always looking to the mirror, there's no one there so I'll pretend."

Lyrical I wants to know who he is but if he "looks" at himself, he don't know who he is, so he just pretends to be someone else.

"I don't want to be like everyone else,
They by the same rules, they've got it all figured out.
Follow me through the crowd right now, follow me through the crowd right now."

There is a also the desire to be something special. The author thinks everyone's got figured out who they are and why the do the things they do (they tell him to "follow him through the crow" so they give him advice or "show him the right way"). In reality, though, no-one knows shit and everyone is insecure - some are just better in hiding it.

"Let's all make out that we're somebody else,"

Speaker realizes how no-one is really themselves.
