"Dead End Friends" as written by and John/homme Baldwin....
I drive all alone, at night,
I drive all alone.
Don't know what I'm headed for.

I follow the road, blind.
Until the road is dead end.
Night's in my veins, it's calling me,
Racing along these arteries
And law, is just a myth
To herd us over the cliff.

I follow the road at night,
Just hoping to find
Which puzzle piece fell out of me.

I know who you are,
Open the door and climb in.
Hold me real close, then do it again,
I ache for the touch of my dead end friends
And oh, I gotta know
Is it dead
At the end of the road?
I can tell
By that look in your eyes,
We're the same,
My dead end friends and I

We drive all alone at night,
A never ending begins.
Sweet as a curse just out of reach,
Awakens the dead end part of me and oh,
No more wandering.
Just me and my dead end friends again.

Dead end friends
Dead end friends
Dead end friends
Dead end

General CommentI think this is about understanding that the fate maybe random, and that he is not much different from his dead end friends, people whom he new years before, but who became junkies or just lost their way. It is a fear that we all have, when we see an old friend who is a complete failure. This is especially true when we are dealing with artists, musicians, creative people, who do not have a structured way of life and are dependent on such a difficult to grasp concepts like inspiration and creativity.
"we're the same, MY DEAD END FRIENDS & I" - the thought must be just terrifying.

General Commenti love this song. can't get enough of it. to me its about not knowing what ur doing with your life or where to turn to next. whether it would be professionaly or relationship wise. then he turns to drinking to help him thru. the dead end friends are the people he would be with at the bar, party, whatever. idk, just my thoughts

My OpinionI think your right on. Though I don't think any of the songs have any definite meaning, just a feeling.

General Commenti think it´s about ending a so called good relationship, and he is kinda lost, and in the time between this relationship he lost contact with some friends, but he finds his friends without any future being junkies or drunk people, that he uses to forget this love just take a look at this part

General CommentWow this is a great song! I like to read what you people think of it, your comments were really good. This is what Dead end friends means to me: i find myself thinking about all those people who simple lost their way, not managing to build meaningful life and having no more will for the fight. Sometimes these people are losers, but most of the times they're not. They are friends we had, who we appreciated and thought they'd grow to be a better person than we are. We were hoping things would come easy to them so we could feel like we had a chance of finding our way.
I really like the part "awakens the dead end part of me" because it reminds me that with everything life throws at us, sometimes we feel like just give as well, becoming cynical and stuff. I also love the part "no more wandering" because a friend of mine one said she was not lost, just wandering or something like this. Sometime I find myself wishing I just didn't give a damn, like empathy is the ennemy. Stop searching and get lost entirely in the dark of an endless road.
