"The Truth" as written by and Serena Lauren Ryder....
Lyin' next to you
Wishing I could disappear, hey
Let you fall asleep
And vanish out into thin air, hey

It's the elephant in the room
And we pretend that we don't see it.
It's the avalanche that looms above our heads.
And we don't believe it.

Tryin' to be perfect
Tryin' not to let you down, yeah
Honesty is honestly the hardest thing for me right now, yeah
While the floors underneath our feet are crumbling
The walls we built together tumblin'
I still stand here holdin' up the roof
'Cause it's easier than telling the truth.

I still keep your photographs
I remember how we used to laugh
I can keep on losin' sleep
If you're okay with being torn in half.

It's the elephant in the room
And we pretend that we don't see it.
It's an avalanche that looms above our heads
But we don't believe it.

Tryin' to be perfect,
Tryin' not to let you down, yeah
Honesty is honestly the hardest thing for me right now, yeah
While the floors underneath our feet are crumblin'
The walls we built together tumblin'
I still stand here holdin' up the roof
'Cause it's easier than telling the truth.

Stop ignoring that our hearts are mourning
And let the rain come in.
Stop pretending that it's not ending
And let the end begin.

Oh yeah

Tryin' to be perfect,
Tryin' not to let you down, yeah
Honesty is honestly the hardest thing for me right now, yeah
While the floors underneath our feet are crumblin'
The walls we built together tumblin'
I still stand here holdin' up the roof
'Cause it's easier than telling the truth.

It's easier than telling the truth

General CommentThis song means a lot to me. I honestly hated kris allen at first but now I think he is amazing. To me this song is about trying to maintain a broken relationship. You both know its not working out but you keep going with it because its easier that way. Hope that made sense. It reminds me a lot of my best friend. Great song though, my favorite by him.

General CommentThis song says so much to me - it describes what happened between my ex-boyfriend and I.

The couple is still together in the song even though it's painful for them.

"It's the elephant in the room
And we pretend that we don't see it
It's an avalanche that looms above our heads
And we don't believe it" - They know that they have problems in their relationship but it's easier not to bring it up. Something will happen to make it crash on them, but they don't want to look at it.

Trying to be perfect, trying not to let you
Honesty is honestly the hardest thing for me right now
While the floors underneath our feet are crumbling
The walls we built together tumbling
I still stand here, holding up the roof
'Cause it's easier than telling the truth - He really doesn't want to hurt her, but their relationship is falling down even though they don't want to admit it. Perhaps he cheated on her and doesn't know what to say about it. It's easier to maintain the status quo than end everything because part of him still wants them to be together.

    I still keep your photographs
I remember how we used to laugh
I can't keep on losing sleep
If you're ok with being torn in half - They really cared for each other at one point in time, and he can't keep feeling tormented about what's going on when she's upset with their relationship. Maybe she knows he cheated and didn't say anything. She's hurting and he feels guilty and he doesn't want to go on like this.

Stop ignoring that our hearts are mourning
And let the rain come in
Stop pretending that it's not ending
And let the end begin - Pretty self explanatory.

I think this song has a lot of emotion, because still caring for someone at the end of a relationship even after you've been through turmoil has to be one of the hardest things to get over.

My OpinionThis song is basically just about telling the truth, whether it hurts or doesn't. It can be good or bad. Sometimes we just want to protect the ones we love, but than again when the truth comes out in front of them they get heart broken or mad at us if it's a bad truth. I think girls are just mental terrorists.. that's what it comes down to for me. >_<

Overall.. guys just learn to tell the truth even if it gives you pain(heck the girl/woman might even like you more for telling her the truth). Bottom line is, don't be afraid to tell her if you like her or don't like her.

General CommentStarting to hear the song i thought it was about wanting to start a relationship with someone but somehow denying it, i don't know why ... now i realize it's about a relatioinship that is ending, it's kind of self explanatory in some parts... this song makes me feel sad
