"Sacrilegious" as written by and Christofer Drew....
Sunday mornin' wake up early,
Skip church service to find my Jesus.
I know it sounds so sacrilegious,
But I just don't belong in a place like that.
I love the cause but not the act.

Cause Jesus was a friend and not a judge.
He loved the sinners as much as he loved the little ones.
That man was love and not an act.

And I sing Hallelujah,
Hallelujah I'm set free.

Sunday mornin' wake up early,
Skip church service to find true meaning.
I know it sounds so disappointing,
But I just don't belong it a place like that.
I love the cause but not the act.

And I sing Hallelujah,
Hallelujah Hallelujah
Hallelujah I'm set free.

My OpinionIt makes me so sad that the church is viewed as being so judgmental today. I hope that one day Christofer can walk into a church and feel loved and accepted for who he is. I don't think he's ever met a real Christian who will love him no matter what sin he's had in his life. It makes me ashamed of other "Christians" who would do this. It's showing people that Christians AREN'T an example of Jesus.

Song MeaningThis song was written about how Christofer got kicked out of his church when he was sixteen years old. He has clearly stated this a few times before singing this song live.

General CommentGod doesnt condemn you for anything you dummys! and this song is probably about the fact that he WAS in fact kicked out of his church and he knew that was wrong of them because God "loves sinners" as much as any one else and it mad him mad that people couldnt except him in his sin when God does. They judged him and he didnt need a jugde. he wanted love. (and the "incident is i think refered to in the song The Past)

General CommentThe song is basicly about how he thinks the sight on God and Jesus is twisted by the church and fanatics. I think he can't understand why God wouldn't want their family in his church because they took in people that needed help in their home. I also think that Chris believes in Jesus Christ which loves everybody equally and wants the best for them as long as they do the best they can, and therefor he can't understand why there are so strict rules in the church.

Love the way he sings the hallelujah part!

My Interpretationthis song is as direct as can be - he's just talking about how he feels about his split with organized Christianity. i've inferred this because i feel the same way. he's saying that while the message of Christianity is beautiful, the way it's carried out is hypocritical and wrong. while the Church says "love everyone," they still discriminate. he says "that man was love and not an act" because we shouldn't have to carry out specific acts to reach eternal salvation, we should only need to have love in our hearts. it's not about him covering for a sin he committed or how he smoked weed; it's simply about how he views the Church and his break with organized Christianity.

General CommentPersonally, I think this song is about the Church being judgmental to others. I've experienced other Christians being judgmental and hateful towards others. To me he's talking about the Churches "rules" and how they're judgmental towards how you dress, tattoos, piercings( Leviticus 19:28 "Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print or tattoo any marks upon you: I am the Lord."), and even the way you worship. I have close family that believes that there is no such thing as "Christian rock" music. I personally don't believe that God "hates" certain genres of music. Sure, hard rock music started out Satanic, but that doesn't mean that you can't NOT have worship with drums in it.

I just think he's talking about how the Church is being picky and focusing on outer appearances of others instead of just putting their focus on God.

General Commenti think he tries to show how we can have Jesus in our hearts but not necessarily go to church. i can compare to this song because i am very religious but i don't really go to church i have Jesus in my heart and mind but church is something i don't really do. a week a go a friend sent me a forward that got me angry it said something like forward this so God knows you love him and show Satan whos stronger. that got me so angry i don't need to forward anything so Jesus knows how i feel about my religion it was ridiculous.

General CommentI agree with this song 100% i come from a very closed minded right wing town and i cant stand it here. I have classmates who say that they are christian and go to church every Sunday but still are the ones who talk the nastiest and are the ones judging all everyone around them, thats why i love the line I love the cause but not the act.

'Cause Jesus was a friend and not a judge.
He loved the sinners as much as he loved the little ones.

General CommentI think that Christopher Drew is somewhat wrong, and somewhat right. But the reason why i think that the church judges a lot for people's apperance, is because in the bible it has some rules or things that God wants us to follow, for example how we look from the outside,so that we can keep our testimony as Christian. i am a person that believes that the way u look is the way you are from the inside. And the only thing that the church wants to do is for us to keep our testimony. The reason why the church is so strict about this and the reason why God set this laws and rules, is because i guess he just wants obedience from us, if he hadn't set this laws, any one would be aloud to go to his kingdom.
