Alors, j'ai l'histoire d'une fille forte
Une fille qui lutte avec amour
Pour remplir sa mission
Elle me dit que les hommes enfants
Ne sont pas bons pour moi
Puis elle me tire jusqu'à  la glace
Et place des bijoux dans mes yeux

I am love

I am love

"Tu es un vaillant cheval noir", me dit-elle
"Et un petit chevalier te trouvera.
Parcourant les rues, parcourant les déserts
Il viendra, car tu es amour."

-----

So I have the story about a strong girl
A girl who struggles with love
To fulfill her mission
She says that the childish men
Are not good for me
Then she draws me to the mirror
And put jewels in my eyes

And I have a little story about
That free minded boy
He's my brother, he's a pioneer
He told me "you are everything and everything is yours"
Together they repair my broken heart
And singing Circle Song
Together they are my family
And with them I am love

"You're a valiant black horse" she said
"And a little knight will find you
Searching the streets, searching the deserts
He will come, for you are love"

Thanks very much to Ambriel, who provided a translation of the song. :)

General CommentI have a hunch that this song was one of the earliest Bat For Lashes songs, possibly a demo, it's very much in the Fur and Gold vein of imagery- knights, horses, deserts, children etc. (possibly an early version of Horse and I?) Also I think it's slightly inspired by 'Le Petit Chevalier' by Nico in a way, not just through the use of the French language, but once again through the images created.

Despite what the submitter requested about this being translated by one who is fluent in French, I did use a translator online (though I'm not fluent,I have studied French and could pick up quite a few words, I just needed that extra help)simply because these lyrics have been missing/not detailed for quite a while, and I felt it was important to have some form of interpretation rather than none. Anyway, enjoy:

So I have the story of a strong girl
A girl who struggles with love
    To fulfill its mission
She said that the childish men
    Are not good for me
Then she held up the ice
And put the jewels in my eyes

And I have a little story about
The boy with the free spirit
This is my brother, is a pioneer
He said "you are everything and everything is yours"
Together they repair my broken heart
    And singing songs circular
    Together they are my family
    And with them I'm dead

"You're a big black horse" she said
"And a little knight will find you
    Walking the streets, traversing deserts
It will, for you are love"

General CommentAlso I think the chorus may be "I am loved"

Not certain on that. I get the "I am" part, the the next bit just sounds like random singing in a way but I'm sure I deducted a word from it.

    My InterpretationHi,

I am French and I think there are a few mistakes in the french lyrics :

    - "Puis elle me tient jusqu'à la glace"
"Tenir jusqu'à" doesn't make any sense in this sentence. I think it is "Puis elle me tire jusqu'à la glace" with a slightly funny pronounciation, because her pronounciation goes a little funny sometimes. That would mean "she drags me", she takes my hand and makes me go somewhere.

    - "Et en chantant chansons circulaires"
I think it is "Chanson Circulaire" because the title of the song is "Circle Song", so there is only one circle song, and I guess it's the name of the song. Also "en chantant chansons circulaires" is not correct in french : it should be "en chantant des chansons circulaires". But if "Chanson Circulaire" is the name of a song it's all right.

    - "Et avec eux je suis à mort"
That's what she actually pronounces, yes, but I am pretty sure she means "je suis amour". That would make much more sense with the last line of the song : "Car tu es amour". She seems to struggle with the sounds [o] and [u] in french. For example she pronounces "Ne sont pas bons por moi", in the first verse where there can't be any doubt it should be "pour moi".

    - "Tu es un grand cheval noir, me dit-elle"
It's hard to hear because there are many sounds at the same time but luckily my headphones went weird one day and filtered the voice only, so i am absolutely certain it is "un vaillant cheval noir".
