All of your pretty things
Your petty pretty things
are gone
the ground beneath your feet
isn't the stable earth you thought

A song so sweetly sung
as if the offer would rescind
credit all firsthand accounts
With need to write about and spin
mistakes
they're all mistakes
they're all mistakes

But on the way down
On the way down
Before you can see
But all the way down
You laugh with the pieces
You just can't explain it all away
Away the damage
And after you atone
This is all you have to show

All of your pretty things
Those petty pretty things
You lost
Discerning tastes agree
That who you used to be
Was awful, to be true

But now we see you
Now we see you
On the way down
All the way down
Before you can see
But all the way down
You laugh with the pieces
You just can't explain it all away
Away the damage
And after you atone
This is all you have to show
For it

"Does it seem to be persisting?"
"Does it seem to be persisting?"
"Does it seem to be persisting?"
"Does it seem to be persisting?"
"Does it seem to be persisting?"
"Does it seem to be persisting?"
"Does it seem to be persisting?"
"Does it seem to be persisting?"
"Does it seem to be persisting?"
"Does it seem to be persisting?"
"Does it seem to be persisting?"
"Does it seem to be persisting?"
"Does it seem to be persisting?"

General CommentWhat an awesome, awesome song. I hope they play it in two weeks when I see them live.

The song seems pretty self-explanatory... someone, maybe with a destructive or wasteful personality, basically loses everything they have and are left wondering how it all happened.
