We're blind and eager
Avarice will set us back to blank
Those who wager all will have to name a reason
If you can't let go, you will end up empty handed
If you can't control, you'll live your life in vain

Who decides about my time to come?
Who is able to break through the circle of life and doom?

Don't look back
Keep on track to break the curse
Take the chance
Design your universe

We can't undo what we have done
So show us now what we've become
Confront us with our viciousness
And our weakness
We can't evade our destiny
So show responsibility
For we all surely have a sense
Of our consciousness

To take for taking's sake
Will leave a path of loss and strain
And endless breaking of faith can warrant acts of treason
If you can't let go, you will end up empty handed
If you can't control, you'll live your life in vain

Who decides about what's true or false?
Who is able to sift through the treasures from the flukes?

The time has come, we have to see
That total wisdom is in reach
The time has come to color in the lines
We must identify the signs

So many people are full of hate
While love and light are in their reach
So many people will harm themselves
But life can be so beautiful

So many people will idolize
While their own success is in their reach
Don't forget you're able to
Design your own universe

Find your balance, sink into rumination

Ipsum te reperies

Potire mundorum
Potire omnis mundi

This is surely a masterpiece, the translation of the latin part:

You will discover yourself Become a master of worlds Become a master of the whole world

    How come no comments yet!

This is alongside TDC the best Epica album, heavier with more guitars and chorus, less orchestra, and they do guitar solos, and Simone's voice is amazing as usual, at some parts thought i was listening to Dream Theater! If you're into progressive you'll love it even more

I agree, this is another great album by Epica. As for this song in particular, I think it just sums up the whole theme of the album, which are really Epica's main themes: independent thinking and questioning authority/society. But in particular its about technology- specifically nanotechnology and genetics, which are threatening to devalue our humanity. Although, it seems to be more on the negative side of the argument, making it seem all hopeless "So many people are full of hate..."

But, there are signs of this song being a wakeup call for people to fix the world's wrongs.

There are, now that I look at it closely, a whole lot of themes in this song. Hard to pick out just one. (Still an awesome song though)

from what i hear and gather from the song, it's partially about the mayan society breaking down after being promised a new king who would liberate them from slavery and sacrifices, unfortunately the king couldn't keep his promise and thus the kingdom is in war and chaos

that's the physical aspect of it

the spiritual aspect of it is how the people truly believe ascending into an after life or expecting hope.

I've been thinking about quantum physics, what the album is kind of about, and this song is basically about doing things, taking decisions and etc. Everytime you do something a universe is created. Now for example if you turn left there is another universe created where another you turn right and this is what this song is literally about, designing your universe

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Bron-Y-Aur Stomp
Led Zeppelin
This is about bronies. They communicate by stomping.

Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
