"Alejandro" was released approximately eight months after the 2009 murder of well known Los Angeles producer Michael R. Goss. In 2010 Lady Gaga stated that her inspiration for "Alejandro" came from a "fear...
I know that we are young,
And I know that you may love me,
But I just can't be with you like this anymore,
Alejandro

She's got both hands
In her pocket
And she won't look at you
Won't look at you
She hides true love
En su bolsillo
She got a halo around her finger
Around you

You know that I love you boy
Hot like Mexico, rejoice
At this point I gotta choose
Nothing to lose

Don't call my name
Don't call my name, Alejandro
I'm not your babe

But her boyfriend's like a dad, just like a dad
And all those flames that burned before him
Now he's gonna fire fight, gotta cool the bad

You know that I love you boy
Hot like Mexico, rejoice
At this point I've gotta choose
Nothing to lose

Song MeaningI think, actually, that this song was from the "Fear of Men Monster," which could also be tied in with "Fear of Sex Monster."

The song is about how she sees love based on a man's wallet (she hides true love en su bolsillo [Bolsillo is pocket in Spanish, which plays a large part in the song]). She then wraps men around her finger with her innocent act (She's got a halo round her finger, around you).

According to her Wiki page, the song also represents GaGa's fear of commitment to the point where she cannot even remember the name of her lover (exemplified in the multiple changing of names; "Alejandro," "Fernando," "Roberto"). Additionally, the line "Mexico, rejoice!" ties into the whole "What happens in Mexico, stays in Mexico" theme that is ever-popular among Spring-Breakers in Cancun.

So, basically, the song is about being promiscuous and garnering as much money as possible, then realizing how wrong it is: "I know that we are young, and I know that you may love me; but I just can't be with you like this anymore...Alejandro." By that time, however, "Alejandro" is already in love with the speaker as he calls her name and addresses her as "babe." Unfortunately for him, he has no idea that she never felt anything more for him than lust and financial assistance.

I know plenty of people like that, lol.

General CommentShe's in love with a man, who's in love with another man, but she's leaving them and their screwed up ways behind. She doesn't want to be controlled by her emotions for Alejandro. She doesn't want Alejandro who wants Fernando, who reminds her of Roberto (her ex before Alejandro).

Either that, or her current boyfriend (Alejandro) reminds her of her ex, Fernando. So, she's leaving the memories (current and old, Alejandro and Fernando) behind. As for Roberto? Who the fuck is he, and where does he come in?

    My favorite line:
"You know that I love you, boy/Hot like Mexico, rejoice/At this point I go to choose/Nothing to lose."

General CommentLol. Some 'meanings' really gave me laugh

    Well...I get it this way

She's on vacation in Merxico. She has a halo - that is a ring - around her finger, so she's either married or engaged. "Her boyfriend is just like her dad' means he wants to control her.
And the main thing, she hooked up with Alejandro and Fernando and Roberto during vacation and now she's leaving them heartbroken....pretending that she's hurt, but she's not - she's just playing (she's not broken, she's just a babe; and she does that inspite her boyfriens whose like her dad)

she hides true love en su bosillo - she keeps the ring in the pocket

General CommentIt seems to me that certain lines in this song reference a girl who seeks older men, but it's rather hard to determine if that's actuality or just how I keep hearing it. It doesn't make much sense against the line "we are young" so I'm going to assume it's actually a reference to her youthful behavior. Despite being a woman, she acts like a girl. Afraid of love and commitment perhaps, or just not understanding of it.

I'm also pretty certain the line IS "Now he's gonna firefight, gotta cool the bad." The whole verse sounds like she's saying the girl has issues, and this man, like a father might, battles them. Perhaps, she starts the trouble and he has to calm it? Start a fire to cool?

Also, I swear I keep hearing "just smoke my cigarette and hush" *laughs* I'm not hearing a "more" in there anywhere. Maybe my hearing is off.

Song MeaningThis is her "Fear of Sex Monster." She's basically saying goodbye to her past lovers. She states this in the interview that she did for Fuse.

General CommentI got this song 6 days ago and my itunes play count is 90.. lol I'm OBSESSED. But as such, I'm pretty sure I have a good handle on the meaning of this song.

She's in love with Alejandro, who is young, hot, and poor. But she's now telling him she can't be with him because she's engaged to an older, wealthier man. She's debated over whether she should choose love or security, and she picked security "I just can't be with you like this anymore"

She hides true love en su bosillo (in his wallet)-she hides her love for Alejandro and attempts to replace it with her fiancee's money

She's got a halo around her finger around you-She's got her big engagement ring around her finger, and the older man is totally infatuated with her, he gives her everything she wants

The chorus "you know that I love you boy".. she's singing to Alejandro, telling him that he knows she knows she loves him, and one day maybe she'll come back to him, but not now.

"Don't call my name..." telling all her past lovers (including Alejandro) to not call on her because she's a taken woman

Don't wanna kiss don't wanna touch.. she doesn't want to give in and cheat on her fiancee even though she's not in love with him

"She's not broken, she's just a baby"-she knows what she's doing- using him for his money, she wasn't forced into this

"But her boyfriend's like her dad, just like a dad." he's much, much older than her and very rich so he takes care of her

    "And all those flames that
    Burned before him,
    Now he's gotta firefight
    Gotta cool the bad"

all the lovers she had before..alejandro, fernando, roberto- she's got to "put out" their flames because she's getting married

he's got to help her "overcome" her love for all those other men by being a good doting husband (although she'll never be attracted to him, and probably never love him)

at this point in the chorus i think she's singing "you know that I love you boy, hot like mexico.." to her fiancee, which shows her superficial feelings for him.

and then finally in the song, I think her old fiancee/ husband dies, she gets all his money and goes back to Alejandro.

It's really kind of sad for the old man, but I love this concept. I'm making a music video for it!

General CommentAfter listening to this song repeatedly I believe the true meaning is actually quite apparent within the lyrics.

Her true love, Alejandro (Ale-ale-jandro) is obviously an ex cop whose partner and former lover, Fernando, was killed in action by the drug lord, Roberto - who Lady Gaga also one had a brief fling with. Overcome with feelings of guilt and grief, Alejandro is now a vigilante gunning for Roberto. Lady Gaga meanwhile finds herself caught in the middle of these troubling times.

The "hot like Mexico" clearly indicates that Roberto has fled to Nuevo Leon and attempting to start a new life there all the while Alejandro is on his trail, who also, due to the loss of Fernando, is overly protective of Lady Gaga ("Just like a dad").

    I love this song!!!!!!!!11one

Song MeaningThis song is just like almost every other song by Lady Gaga. It is about her being a whore. She fornicated with three men in Mexico, and now she's playing mind games with herself about breaking their hearts. Case closed.

General CommentHeres my 2 cents. The song on surface level is her breaking away from a male; Alejandro, with the names Fernando and Roberto also being used. Ones led to think that she has love relations with all 3 or all 3 names are used to describe the one male.

    I quote linseymc94

Alejandro is Mans protector and defender. (GOD)
Fernando is Ardent for peace. (JESUS)
Roberto is Bright or shining fame. (HOLY SPIRIT)
    Hotter than Mexico means Hell.

"Don't bother me Don't bother me Alejandro (God)"
"Don't call my name Don't call me Name Bye Fernando(Jesus)"
"I'm not your Babe (child) I'm not your Babe (child) Alejandro (God)"
"Don't call my name don't call my name Roberto (Holy Spirit)"

In the Bible, the word "Babe" is used in place of "child"
    -Exodus 2:6

After watching the video and hearing what linseymc94 had to say I believe the song is more about religion. I believe the video reflects this theme of religion more clearly with the use of Christian — judo symbolism and the video also adds the theme of the modern battle of Gays against society and the theme of the lack of the gay’s freedom in the military.
The battle of gays against society is represented by the physical war scenes and chaos in the background screen. And the gay dancers marching getting ready for battle.
The prancing soldiers, and men wearing heels/stockings representing the gays in the military or lack of liberty for gays in the military. And the battle against don’t ask don’t tell.

Lady Gaga questions the church condoning homosexuality and goes back and forth deciding whether or not to part with Christianity. “At this point I have to choose nothing to loose”

Lady Gaga holding a heart with an A on it (Alejandro/GOD), followed by a coffin representing the death of her old religion and beliefs of Christianity. “I know that you may love me but I just can’t be with you like this anymore” She said her album is about celebrating the death of your old life and the beginning of the new.
But she is later seen in a nun outfit praying, but asking God Alejandro “just let me go”.
Shortly after shots of her sexually on top of a male go back and forth with shots of her as a nun.
But she is then short after seen having what appears to be her giving anal sex to the male.
But she is then seen in a white cloak with the upside down cross which is not the devils cross but actually the holy St peters cross; representing unworthy of Gods Salvation; making a point that gays are not worthy of Gods salvation or at least the church thinks so.
She then swallows the rosary making a point that Christians will swallow and belief anything the church tells them. She takes in the rosary to accept God.
Various shots of her making love go back and forth with shots of her as a nun once again but in black and white so it appears to be reminiscent. Has she made the right choice?
By accepting God and wearing the holy cloak the gays reject and throw her, just as the church has rejected them. When she unrobes the holy cloak and parts with God the gays then accept her. She then looks at us (the camera) upside down just like when St Peters was hung upside down and looked at his killers. She’s looking at the forth wall/ the audience: society. As society kills the souls of gay’s maybe?
She then dies and burns in hell.
“Hot like Mexico, rejoice” she’s saying rejoice in a sarcastic way. Yay god hates us we’re going to hell, cuz apparently god hates gays.

First time I watched it when I saw her in the white/red cloak I thought she was a reverse Joan of arc, instead of ending the war using God and the church; she is leading the modern war of gay rights. Joan of arc had to pretend she was a man and in the video Gaga is fucking a male dancer from behind so was she pretending to be a man in that sense?

So after watching the video I really think Alejandro Fernando Roberto are references to God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. I know that Klein (the director) has said its about the sorrow of loosing a loved one and that Gaga has said the songs about her fear of sex and fear of commitment which it is also about, but I believe its mainly about Christianity and she doesn’t want to admit it because imagine how bad her popularity would decrease.
    My 2 cents anyway thoughts?
