"Tell Me I'm a Wreck" as written by David Ryan Strauchman, James Francis Deeghan, Mitch Allan and Timothy Pagnotta....
I could have been easier on you
I could have been all you held on to
I know I wasn't fair
I tried my best to care
About you
(About you)

I know I could have been a better man
I always had to have the upper hand
I'm struggling to see
The better side of me
But I can't
Take all your jabs and taunts
You're pointing out
My every fault
And you wonder why I walked away

When you tell me I'm a wreck
You say that I'm a mess
How could you expect anything less
(Expect anything less)
You latched onto me
Then cried I strung you along

I told you when you asked
I knew this wouldn't last
At least I could be honest about that
(Honest about that)
And now you're tellin' everyone
How I only did you wrong

I guess you never knew me at all

Remember on my 21st birthday
You took me where we went on our first date
We stayed till closing time
After four glasses of wine
You started with the pointless argument
You said that I forgot to compliment
The dress you wore that night
That I've seen a thousand times

But I think
We just want different things
I want space
You want a diamond ring
Whatever made you think we were meant to be?

When you tell me I'm a wreck
You say that I'm a mess
How could you expect anything less
(Expect anything less)
You latched onto me
Then cried I strung you along
(Cried I strung you along)

I told you when you asked
I knew this wouldn't last
At least I could be honest about that
(Honest about that)
And now you're tellin' everyone
How I only did you wrong
(How I only did you wrong)

I guess you never knew me at all

You tell me I'm a wreck
You say that I'm a mess
How could you expect anything less

When you tell me I'm a wreck
You say that I'm a mess
How could you expect anything less
(Expect anything less)
You latched onto me
Then cried I strung you along
(Cried I strung you along)

I told you when you asked
I knew this wouldn't last
At least I could be honest about that
(Honest about that)
And now you're tellin' everyone
How I only did you wrong
(How I only did you wrong)

Still I see you standing there
Waiting round for me to fall
(Waiting round for me to fall)
Girl you must be crazy
Still believing you and me belong

I guess you never knew me at all

General Commentthis song PERFECTLY represents how me and my ex's relationship was.

"i could have been easier on you,
i could have been all you held onto.
i know i wasn't fair, i tried my best to care about you.
i know i could have been a better man,
but always had to have the upper hand
i'm struggling to see the better side of me
but i can't take all your jabs and taunts"

he thinks he screwed me over and still regrets that we broke up, but
he also thinks i treated him like dirt when in reality he was cheating- although i can honestly take some blame.

"i told you when you asked, i knew this wouldn't last
at least i could be honest about that"

he says he tried to end it with me, but really he beat around the bush and didn't make his point at all.. next thing i knew he was in another relationship.

"i guess we both want different things, i want space.. you want a diamond ring"

until he started to drift away from me, i didn't want commitment.
but now i would do anything to get him back.

My OpinionI had this song pretty much the day they released it as a single on iTunes. iTunes sucks at preview picking, but they did good with this because I loveloveloved the song before the preview was half-over he first time I heard it. I love this entire album. and Every Avenue :D

And it's awesome live. I saw Every avenue on the White Tie Affair's Traveling Talent Show in Boston a few weeks ago. Best concert I've ever been to.

Song MeaningThe song is about a guy who doesn't have a good girlfriend. Songs like this are an inspiration to me to pick the right girl and not just date "because she's hot." I hate guys like that. >_<

I'm always headbanging on the chorus, Every Avenue have succeeded in making a favorite song of mine. :) I'm very critical when it comes to music.

General CommentTotally about a bad girlfriend and even worse ex. I always find the most random songs that I wind up falling in love with while surfing the web. This song kinda sounds like it belongs in a promo for a sitcom or something. I've already seen it used in some great fan videos.

General CommentThis song is definitely fitting what me and my ex were like. Like so accurate it's almost scary. But in general this song is about a guy that tried and a girl that didn't.

I could have been easier on you
I could have been all you held on to
    I know I wasn't fair
I tried my best to care about you
    (About you)
(The guy could've been nicer to her but she definitely could've tried harder to be his one and only. He might not have been fair all of the time but he still tried hard to care about her.)

I know I could have been a better man
But I always had to have the upperhand
I'm struggling to see the better side of me
(The guy has some psychological issues and always had to be in control. He knows he could change he's just having troubles doing so)
But I can't take all your jabs and taunts
You're pointing out my every fault
And you wonder why I walked away
(The girl always eggs him into an argument and calls out every little thing he does wrong, yet she wonders why he left her.)

When you tell me I'm a wreck
You say that I'm a mess
How could you expect anything less?
    (Expect anything less)
(I think this is kind of an "I told you so" situation. He told her about his issues but she didn't listen and acted like it was all on purpose)
    You latched on to me
Then cried I strung you along
(self explanatory, the guy tried his hardest but all the girl did was complain.)
I told you when you asked
    I knew this wouldn't last
At least I could be honest about that
    (Honest about that)
    And now you're telling everyone
How I only did you wrong
I guess you never knew me at all
(also self explanatory. He warned her they were probably going to break up and shouldn't even try. Now she's telling all her friends about supposedly what a bad boyfriend he is. This proves she never really even tried to understand him)

    Remember on my twenty-first birthday
You took me where we went on our first date?
    We stayed till closing time
    After four glasses of wine
You started with a pointless argument
You said that I forgot to compliment
The dress you wore that night
That I've seen a thousand times
(awesome little story here and i could see my ex doing this same thing. It was supposed to be a special date for them and instead she made a big deal out of literally nothing. If he's seen the dress a ton before why should he have to say anything about it? she knows what he thinks about it already.)

But I think we just want different things
I want space, you want a diamond ring
Whatever made you think we were meant to be?
(the guy thinks they fight cuz they just want different things. He wants space from all the things she does to hurt him and she's just staying with him because she wants fancy things.)

Still, I see you standing there
Waiting 'round for me to fall
(Waiting 'round for me to fall)
    Girl, you must be crazy
Still believing you and me belong
I guess you never knew me at all
(Even after everything she puts him through shes still waiting for him to come back to her. He calls her crazy for thinking he'd ever want her back after the pain she put him through. She never really knew anything about him)
