jake leg!
steal this wine away
flay me
underneath the brine

running away
through the sick and the pure
"mind your feet!" lest the firmament tread

crawl past the soft
spiraled sinewy teeth
"soiled dove!" steal the fruit of its jaws

lady!
keep those hounds at bay
feed me
the fruits of avalon

the body's a vessel
the hands find a cure
"flesh is weak!" and my lip needs a meal

weak in the knees
and you're wet on the floor
"ace of staves!" we will dance evermore

General CommentWell jake leg was something people got in prohibition. They sold this jamaica ginger stuff called Jake as a tonic, but mainly it was just alcohol disguised as tonic. The FDA made them have so much ginger solids in order to reduce the amount of alcohol in it. Basically, they tried to dupe the FDA and put in plasticizers in order to retain the alcohol, but give the illusion of a high amount of solids. The plasticizers made people lose motor function, so they walked toe-heel instead of heel-toe. That's all I know!
