Cards and quarters
Means to ends
Surgeon General warns against
Safe in the knowledge
A short walk back
Punch-line I ruin
But we both laugh
Leaves steeping longer
Knowing glance
Make our appearance
Our minds have gone back home
Brave in her movements
Scared to dance alone
There's a cave made of sheets
And I, I know we want to be inside
Take off all of your clothes and climb
Into a cave of sheets tonight
Steal away
You and me
To a cave made of sheets

My InterpretationThis song is excellent. They are drunk and as they walk back to the room, the awkwardness arises with both of them knowing what they want. Neither want to be alone, and they can find refuge with each other in the "cave made of sheets". Another wonderfully written song by Local Natives.

General CommentOne of the best "love" songs of the past year or two (depending on when you consider the record came out). Not quite a love song, could just be lust, in the sense that it's cards and quarters, spending money on booze and/or cigarettes, that make their night possible.
