If I put my hands around your wrists
would you fight them?
If I put my fingers in your mouth
would you bite them?
So many things that I would do
If I had my way with you

I can't keep secrets and I know how you want me
You can tear your nails into my skin
You won't stop me
You can twist and scream into the air
No one can hear you here

And there will be no tenderness
No tenderness
There will be no tenderness
No tenderness
I will show no mercy for you
You had no mercy for me
The only thing that I ask
Love me mercilessly

All your shining friends that despise you to your face
What would they say now if they saw you in this place?
Naked and breathless, could you live with this disgrace?
Could you live?
Could you live?
Could you live with this?

And there will be no tenderness
No tenderness
There will be no tenderness
No tenderness
I will show no mercy for you
You had no mercy for me
The only thing that I ask
Love me mercilessly

If I put my hands around your wrists
would you fight them?
If I put my fingers in your mouth
would you bite them?
So many things that I would do
If I had my way with you

And there will be no tenderness
No tenderness
There will be no tenderness
No tenderness
I show no mercy for you
You have no mercy for me
The only thing that I ask
Love me mercilessly

Love me mercilessly

This song is DEFINITELY not about rape. This song is about being so angry at somebody for what they've done to you, yet also having an amazing sexual attraction to them. It's about a raw need to just fuck somebody. You know when you have make-up sex and it's super angry and animalistic? Thats what this is except to a higher degree.

I think this person is writing about being the Dominator in an S&M relationship. In the music video there are a lot of references towards fertility. It's about hating someone so much but still having an animalistic need to want to conquer them. It's about love and anger and passion.

I always respect musicians and authors with the courage to write to free and with raw honesty. AWESOME song.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
