Use your fist please don't knock
My loose teeth are yours to take
Cuddling our new found freedom in keeping
Our eyes open without being awake
Kiss my ear the faint still taunts
Children rejoice
"Once hero, now dead"
One last time I'm really hurting
Just a little taste to take off the edge
I rummage through old love letters
And photographs in a desperate reach for
A clue into who I am
With only the distant past as reference
I fail to feel any connection
To the bones under my skin
You can cry but you're still getting sterilized
You can show the sun how to come if you know the sky
He'll let you make a mess if you keep him high
It was a good shoot
The messenger deserved to die for his lies
Make it hurt scare me straight
Cursed is he who can't burn by fire
We're all falling show me feeling
I'm your designated diver
I can see the cuts on your mind
Your mother made yours
Mine made mine, I know you'd rather
Be sad than stupid
Genius by day, Junkie by night
By the grace of breeze I never scraped a knee
That didn't help me see bleeding isn't what it seems
Let it steam let it steep 'till it screams
"Finally free!" then you better leave
I bet that she's gonna kill the king

Doctored wound perfect numb
13 billion years in the making
black hole at the center of our galaxy
we're still suffering we're still aching
the sanctuary is closed for repairs
I used God's guide to pet a maniac the nice way
Bad habits make for good memories
I'm good at being at the wrong time in the right place
Crust and clots at the corners of her mouth
Eyes white like yours,
But completely different somehow
I caught her post dose
looking like a ghost
Cheeks rosed from the flush of fluid
So familiar to us now
Legs folded, the predators pray
There's no messiah that wasn't a slave to it's brain
If I could do with nails, what you do with words,
there'd be one more crucifixion, one less open door
Use my fist but I won't knock
Break it open
Itch me sober
Trust me
We'll get out of this alive
Now take my hand it's almost over
I apologize for lying about smiling
I'm a frightened little cat that learned to act like a lion
While leviathans beach in the grip of their patience
I'm driving this cheap pirate
ship to the pavement
By the grace of breeze I never scraped a knee
That didn't help me see nothing's really what it seems
Let it steam let it steep 'till it screams
"Finally free!" then you better leave
I'm aiming right for the head of the king.

My InterpretationI love the reference to the other song "Smile". "I apologize for lying about smiling
I'm a frightened little cat that learned to act like a lion"

Anyways, the song is very vauge at some parts and is very open to interpretation. I'm guessing that the general story about this song is that a girl a lot like Eyedea is dying and he's trying to get over her death and pick up where she left off in battling the people who suppress others.

The only line I really don't get is "While leviathans beach in the grip of their patience". Or rather "grip of their patience".

    But yeah, great song.

General Commentthis song, as i noticed a lot more of eyedeas songs then people think, has a lot of heroin references in it. in my humble opnion this song is about a girl he likes who he used to do dope with, or maybe she just did dope and he didn't. i think this because of the lyrics. "One last time I'm really hurting
Just a little taste to take off the edge" a reference to withdrawl. and especially "Crust and clots at the corners of her mouth Eyes white like yours, But completely different somehow I caught her post dose looking like a ghost Cheeks rosed from the flush of fluid So familiar to us now" its VERY VERY obvious to me, being a former heroin user that this is a reference to someone being high on heroin. you can just tell by someones eyes easy as pie if they're high or not, they're not red like pot, just pin hole pupils and they have a distinct look when they're like that, you can spot it from a mile away, and from the view of someone who doesnt use heroin or opiates you might not notice why they look different, but you know they're totally different.. and OBVIOUSLY, I caught her POST DOSE!!! how much more obvious could it be than "POST DOSE LOOKING LIKE A GHOST"?? then he ads cheeks rosed from the flush of fluid (shooting up) so farmiliar to us now as if he and her shoot up together a lot now. GOD he is genius. and i think as leviathans beach in the grip of their patience is a reference somehow to trying to get off of dope, like he said in the beginning of the song "cuddling our new found freedom of keeping our eyes open without being awake" (obviously being on dope) and "ONE LAST TIME I'M REALLY HURTING, JUST ONE TASTE TO TAKE OFF THE EDGE" this is certainly a reference to being dope-sick, and if you have ever been or know a heroin addict, its always "oh just one last time, im so sick, just once more and that will be the last time i swear", i get that from these lyrics a lot, that is the struggle of wanting to stop, and telling your self you will, but not being able to. even when you dont want to do it anymore, sometimes you do it just not to be sick, you have the leviathan in your grip (acknowlaging what a monster or leviathan heroin is), you dont want the drug to get high anymore you have no desire to use it, but you have to in order to not be dope sick, so when you go use again, even though you dont nessacarily want to, you're driving the ship into the pavement, and crashing down again.... thats just my take on the song though, maybe its about two ignorant lovers who dont use drugs, just they're love to be blind..... either way it was a beautiful mind that wrote this.

General CommentThis song is about addiction. Eyedea confirms it before a live performance .
