Burn, burn the house on fire
I'm so sick and tired
I can still remember your sound
It's cut cut cutting me down
Down I'm locked and loaded
You're so milk and roses
And I am just a letdown of your hound
It's cut cut cutting me down
Like slow poison
Cut down, slow poison
Sing me one more
I have found my angel
Ah-ah-oh
She walks upon the ground
It's cut cut cutting me
Down on the empty can
I'm a stranger in a strange, strange land
Gone, gone, just gone without a sound
It's cut cut cutting me
Like slow poison
Cut down, like slow poison
And all of my dreams are only dreams
And all of my schemes are only schemes
And if this is my punishment
Then I want my card to fit
Burn burn the house on fire
I'm so sick and tired
I can still remember your sound
It's cut cut cutting me down
Like slow poison
Cut down, like slow poison
It's cutting me
Like slow poison
I'm so sick and tired
I can still remember your sound
It's cut cut cutting me down
Down I'm locked and loaded
You're so milk and roses
And I am just a letdown of your hound
It's cut cut cutting me down
Like slow poison
Cut down, slow poison
Sing me one more
I have found my angel
Ah-ah-oh
She walks upon the ground
It's cut cut cutting me
Down on the empty can
I'm a stranger in a strange, strange land
Gone, gone, just gone without a sound
It's cut cut cutting me
Like slow poison
Cut down, like slow poison
And all of my dreams are only dreams
And all of my schemes are only schemes
And if this is my punishment
Then I want my card to fit
Burn burn the house on fire
I'm so sick and tired
I can still remember your sound
It's cut cut cutting me down
Like slow poison
Cut down, like slow poison
It's cutting me
Like slow poison

This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
I feel like the lyrics (in some parts atleast) tell us that he's seen a girl like no other (the "angel") and he feels like he can't ever have her (much like many other songs)...
But then he talks about his punishment fitting his crime and that's where I'm not so sure...
I'm thinking maybe his punishment is that he'll never see the girl again and maybe he wants to do something so he can...and maybe whatever he wants to do is bad (the "crime")...
I'm really not so sure...Anyone else? It's a great song without knowing any meaning whatsoever, but there's a lot to this song, I think.
I think it just means that he feels like he's completely inadequate, for a girl specifically, and maybe also in life in general, especially for this:
And all of my dreams are only dreams
And all of my schemes are only schemes
And if this is my punishment
Then I want my crime to fit
I think the lyrics are meaning that he just feels like he's not good enough for anything/is incapable of doing anything, especially in that part. When it says "and if this is my punishment/then I want my crime to fit" I think it means that he feels like he's been doomed or punished to a life like he's having, but if that's what his punishment's going to be, then he wants his crime to fit (he wants to have done something or do something to provoke this "punishment").
