Sweet gluttony, she says to me
Kill 'til you go insane with pleasure
Let me scream, obesity
Bloody curses for a god who can not hear
My carcass, my carcass, swells with excitement
Grand things luscious with tar in their hair

My duchess, mistress, bloody dementia
Bless the bread with St. Anthony's fire

Princess pout, rips her teeth out
Shards of her lover now spill on the floor

Lord Slain, royal insane
Parts of him gummed up under her nails

Dried up vacated, girl mutilating
Vindication sits where her curls use to be
The smoking, the squealing, cut throat vixen
Ashes outline where a king used to plea

Shotgun duke, holes in the roof
(While) Pervert princess peel off their faces
Burning and misery, maggots for jewelary
The mad queen black as aces
The drowning the filth spasms and death

Diamond studded fists demand more, more more!
Demotic,convulsing, the choir rejoicing
Not going to hell, we're bringing it here
All things shiny, court frenzy
Severely pathological, blood orgy

Building will fall
Heaven don't care
Gods in contortion
Let them eat distortion

General CommentI'm not very certain about this one...maybe it's about all those violent video games and horror movies that are designed to be "bringing [hell] here". I don't know for sure. Anyone else got an idea?

General CommentThe name says a lot, 'Let Them Eat Distortion' basically referring to everything we see in magazines and on t.v. saying let them absorb information saying that being skinny is hot, rich is better, plastic is perfect and being the IT girl/boy is better than being yourself.

General CommentIt's about a decadent, indifferent society, intent only on their own gratification. (Our own, of course.)

The title is a reference to the quote "let them eat cake", which often misattributed to Marie Antoinette. The French court at the time was unbelievably detached from the needs of the people; they lived in a country which was hemorrhaging money and inches away from imploding in on itself, yet they lived in lavish palaces and indulged exotic food and drink, expensive jewelery and whatever else their hearts desired. And outside, the peasants starved.

This, couples with the lyric's dark imagery ("Sweet gluttony, she says to me "kill 'til you go insane with pleasure.") imply that we - as a collective - are Id-driven, egocentric and destructive, completely detached from the needs of others and the world around us, literally killing to get our kicks. And still, "diamond-studded fists demand more, more, more!"

tl;dr: Society's excessive greed at the expense of everything.

General CommentSt Anthony's Fire is another name for Ergotism, the sickness caused by ingesting the chemicals produced by the fungus ergot. One theory behind the Salem witch mania is that the bread and grains were tainted with this fungus and led to hallucinations and convulsions that were interpreted as signs of witchcraft and enchantment.
Angelspit also reference ergot at the start of "Making Money" on the same album, Hideous and Perfect.
