Speak for yourself, I don't play along so well
And truth be told, I don't have the time of day
Your so smart, no one likes a liar
Stand your ground, cause I don't need another friend

Please speak to me with empathy
And I wont fight back
I waste my time
You get your way
Please speak to me with empathy
And I wont fight back
I waste my time

Your skirt raised high
Nervously you crack a smile

The song’s obviously about empathy…being able to walk in another’s shoes and not wish to hurt them. Did you wonder if s/he smiled as s/he danced with him? Did you wonder if they laughed together? Did you wonder if s/he held her hand; kissed her cheek; and invited her home with him? Did they laugh as they were under the covers? Did s/he gently move his fingers down the length of her body and did s/he him? Did they move together in perfect motion? Did he whisper in her ear that he loved her? Did s/he him? Did they make plans to see each other again? Will they celebrate their experience in song…perhaps Kings of Leon. And will it hurt? This is a good song, if a person is able to experience empathy. How did it feel wearing the shoe all night? And why would anyone wish someone else to experience the pain?

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
