The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.
I don't need, I don't need nobody
Please shut the front door and walk right in
In the land of the man who rock it hard for them
Super Solo Dolo attack, run into that
If you'd like to know, yes, I am on acid
Who could it be? K-I-D
Searching all day in the streets for DMT
Don't sip it, though it couldn't answer
Drip, drip all day bumpin' MGMT, homie
Watch who you hate on, fam', without the facts
Sad niggas back in the hood bumpin' Ratatat
To me it was a dream, a fiend to understand that
You never seen a nigga like me?
I just tell 'em I'm an oxymoron when I open my mouth
Cause people talk shit before knowing what I'm about
But for sure these Cleveland boys is ill
But pretty soon your gutter bitches wildin' for real, it's such a trip
Hoes around the globe, I'm known to have a fet'
I don't do a thing and these bitches lickin' they lips
Me and Chip reflect on all the hate and jibber jabber
Mmm, you almost got me, but sucker I'm not a sucker
Better get on back
You pussy motherfuckers get the Will Smith smack
And I am not a fronter, better look up the facts
The world know what it be
Mr. Rager, Solo Dolo see me and repeat it
Come, come now, last call, who want some?
It's just me, two bitches and dirty drums
Two lips to kiss, 22 other nuns
God blessed my tongue, God need it for life
Awkward like car rides, twiddling my thumbs
Pondering my next accomplishments
It's condescending to say I won
Two lips, you kiss my ass tonight, huh?
I really want it I need it
Break bread or break fast
Before I blast and break legs, ride past
And they scream out "little Johnny is dead!"
You wish me well, I wish you hell
Eternity, no such thing as time will tell
Infirmary, burn like magnetic combustion
Bad credit with me, and paramedics are hustlin'
What's the definition of water?
Sherm sticks, simply got 'em everywhere you caught us
Turn quick, I don't wanna play this for my daughter
And if my son heard it, probably look at you as his father
I'm proud of myself in a bad way
Halfway house, tell that to me halfway
I'm passin' out, ass whoopin'
Your ass lookin' for Michelle Obama 'til I bang on you
They couldn't
Come, come now, last call, who want some?
It's just me, two bitches and dirty drums
Two lips to kiss, 22 other nuns
God blessed my tongue, God need it for life
Awkward like car rides, twiddling my thumbs

Hayalperest
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere.
In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
I do not want to sound like a know it all but I need to stress the fact that this song is NOT all about getting high. Kid cudi is an artist and his masterpiece "solo dolo" contains complexities no other rapper would be able to so artfully convey. The meaning isn't as simple as a blazing session
To better understand this song you must know the context. This song comes from his first album Man On The Moon, and the album is split into 5 different acts (another example of the man's creative genius) for a cinematic experience people can connect with more easily, a journey/oddysey into kid cudi's mind. Solo dolo takes place in act 2 called rise of the night terrors. We are sent to his nightmares and solo dolo is definatelly the darkest song on the album. Cudi creates this character "solo dolo" which represents himself and his insecurities.
Now the rest is just opinion. my 2 cents on what solo dolo is all about Immediatelly met with an eerie hook kid cudi starts by developing a character mr. Solo dolo (represents cudi himself and insecurities) giving him qualities of a loner. "listen good I don't have nobody" "but what I might feel are the sounds of sanity" this line is saying all he has is his music "sounds of sanity" and he is not even sure what he hears is sane (insecurity that he is just crazy and others will not understand him) "hoping what I hear loops itself continuosuly" "than I won't be afraid--no no" explaining that even though he is different he hopes to stay true to himself. For the unique sound he creates to continue because if he is just being himself than why should he fear what others think. "why must it feel so wrong when I try and do right" "soaring through paradise when I'm closing my eyes" "I'm mr solo dolo" why must it feel so wrong or uncomfortable to do right which is being true to himself. Obviously soaring with closed eyes refers to being high but not the essence of the song rather a facet of who cudi is he gets high, among other things, for inspiration. The name solo dolo means the lonely stoner. Another example of cudis fear of being alone. A fear brought out by the death of his dad. The next verse cudi is speaking to the audience asking for an honest response to his music and feelings "Look at me you tell me just what you see" "am I someone whom you may love or enemy" "am I speaking for you and yours or Someone else" "I need some answers yeah yeah" cudi looking for acceptance in his audience although he soon learns (in the last verse) that acceptnce of self is more important than acceptance of others.
The third verse is less symbolic and more straight forward.<br /> "my world turns flippin the bird"<br /> "to the ones who figure, me"<br /> "outcast no not the duo"<br /> he feels the world is sayin fu$& you because he is differqnt unique, an outcast.<br /> "back at shaker heights when they knew"<br /> "though little brother was a strange one boo hoo"<br /> "Cry me a river hater"<br /> shaker heights is the suburbs where cudi grew up shaker heights Ohio. And the people there understood him better although he was strange. Cry me a river haters one he uses to sail on later in the song. Haters fuel him.<br /> "floatin in my mind no sail"<br /> "ahoy" <br /> cudi kills the 3rd verse which is unique from the others becuase of it's simple meaning however it is elevated by the insane poetic breaking of words and syllables in creative ways never attempted before and unique to the individual song.
The verse immediatelly following the third. the last and final verse is ABSOLUTLEY ESSENTIAL to understanding the song. It practically mirrors the first only a few words are changed. Totally changing the meaning. Look at the verses side by side<br /> Verse1 Verse2<br /> "listen good". "listen good"<br /> "I don't have nobody". "I don't NEED nobody"<br /> "but what I might feel are the sounds of sanity". "this is what YOU feel are the sounds of INsanity"<br /> "hoping what I hear loops itself continuously". "hoping what I hear loops itself TO FINISH ME"<br /> "then I won't be afraid--no no" "NO I WONT Be afraid--HEY HEY"
I know I wrote a shit load but Im not doin it to sound smart Im trying to show the haters that kid cudi is not just about getting high but about real Fu$&ing art. He is able to paint an image with words and music that you are able to connect and relate to. Not many artists especially not mainstream hip hop have the ability to use music to transcend your perspectiv and see through the artists mind. Kid cudi mixes cuts and paraleles words and verses in a way no one and I mean no one has ever been able to do before in the "rap" world. He has created a revolution from shallow hip hop to a an artful song that does not even fit a genere with real meaning and genius word play. And cudi achives all this just by being himself. in the end "I won't be afraid" to be myself no matter what others think of my music. I know the real creative ones the real people will understand and connect with it. In turn inspiring them to create and share their selves without fear of rejection or others opinions. For awhile we were alone but than cudi rose and gave us a voice and now instead of solo we fly together. a creative revolution
That last thing you said. "a creative revolution" Was GENIUS. Now I undertsand Revofev better!
Firstly I would just like to commend your intuitiveness, comprhension and passion for understanding all in relative to CuDi and his genious ( don't want to seem on cudi's duck or anything bit idk how else to describe his lyrical precision in regards to how they directly relate to the problems of our times in a way "referencing up up and away," isn't wack. However, I would like to add one small thing about his saying of, "'why must it feel so wrong when I try and do right, do right,'" and later , "'why must it feel so right right when I knoe that its wrong, it's wrong, when will I, ever learn from the words in my song'". These lines respectively not only do I believe them to be talking about CuDi and his internal conflict with doing the right thing vs the "cool or wrong thing" because others expect it, but also that the world and all that live in it have fallen into that same trap of just wanting to fit in and he knows how hard it is thus saying when will he ever learn. He's trying to get that point of, and whether it be ppl listening to lil Wayne, whom I liked when he first strted, or drugs for the wrong reasons like fitting in, u have to know what's right and wrong, and that doesn't mean law, it just means wha you want to do, not what others want, expect or try to force you to do. A kid named CuDi what a guy.
