The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.
Yes I will!
Be there when you get home
And I will be there when you become all you hate
All you hate when you become
You have to see the floor!
You have to see the floor before you!
You can see the angels are reaching!
Cross all the T's dot the I's this is your life!
The contract expires when you die!
You need to see the bottom of every barrel to know!
Maybe I was wrong to look in to all the eyes of all of my demons!
I would rather stare right back into the eyes of the devil!
To find my own face!
Being alone, being alone never felt so good 'cause I found you
Maybe time was wrong (time was wrong!)
Maybe time was wrong (time heals nothing!)
We can all be alone, all alone, all alone
We can all be alone but we will still have you
Maybe I'll become all that I hate!
Maybe I'll become, maybe I'll become (all I hate)
Maybe (I'll) become (you)
He will pull all of us out!

Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version.
Great version of a great song,
Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example:
"'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
What i mean to say is they they formed to sing and spread the word of God and Jesus Christ so why would they talk about a stupid break up with a girl or something like that
Christian bands don't just sing about God and Jesus Christ.....they also sing about things like break ups and love and all that because they sing about real life problems that even they go through
CharmanderIsEvolving is wrong in my opinion. When he sings "and i will be there when you get home/and i will be there when you become all you hate/all you hate when you become/you have to see the floor you have to see the floor before you/you can see the angels are reaching" i think is saying more that you have to fall before you can rise again or in a christian perspective we fall so we can rely on God to pick us up from where we were.

"cross all the t's dot the i's this is your life/the contract expires when you die/you need to see the bottom of every barrel to know/maybe i was wrong to look in to all the eyes of all of my demons/i would rather stare right back into the eyes of the devil
to find my own face." when he says this i think he's saying it's you live with the choices you make and you sign we each sign our own contract. In the christian perspective it's about the same, we chose heaven or hell by giving our lives to God and signing the contract to follow him.

"being alone being alone never felt so good cause i found you/maybe time was wrong (time was wrong)/maybe time was wrong (time heals nothing)/we can all be alone, all alone, all alone/we can all be alone but we will still have you." This I can only take from the christian perspective that we are never alone even when we feel along God is always there for us
I think this is pretty right on. I was thinking the same thing you were about the "being alone.." part i got that theory from a Barlow Girl song i forget the name at the moment but it sends the same message.
