"Seventeen" as written by Christopher Cester, Cameron Thane Muncey and Nicholas John Cester....
I get back home at a quarter to four
What you doing with your keys inside my door
Seventeen and you've never been here before

I tried my best not to put you down
There's a hole in my head where the words fall out
Don't care what faithless people say
Should I care

(Oh, oh)
(Oh, oh)

Seventeen,
(Oh, oh)
Don't change one thing
(Oh, oh)

We take our chances everyday
We watch those bleeding hearts decay
I'd walk through walls, would it make you stay

I've burned my bridges and I've burned my friends
If I had my time, I'd do it again
Don't care what faithless people say
I don't care

Seventeen,
(Oh, oh)
Don't change one thing
(Oh, oh)
Just burn to the end, at seventeen girl
(Oh, oh)
Seventeen,
(Oh, oh)
Don't change one thing
(Oh, oh)
Just burn to the end, at seventeen girl
(Oh, oh)

I don't wanna talk I wanna go home
There's a voice in my head, won't leave me alone
I want you to follow me home
'Cause I know this star that we transcend could be the only chance we get
Seventeen, I've never been here before (yeah)

Seventeen,
(Oh, oh)
Don't change one thing
(Oh, oh)
Just burn to the end, at seventeen girl

Seventeen,
(Oh, oh)
Don't change one thing
(Oh, oh)
Just burn to the end, at seventeen girl
Burn to the end

General CommentI watched a doco on Jet the other day and they explained this song...

Lead singer (Nick?) had just moved into an apartment that his friend had moved out of because he was moving out of the city and the landlords daughter had caught wind that the guy was moving out and Nick caught her and her boyfriend opening the door to the apartment. She was seventeen and apprently after the whole situation happened he got to thinking what he was like when he was seventeen and all the stuff he used to get up to.

'I get back home at a quarter to four
What ya doin' with ya keys inside my door?
Seventeen and you've never been here before

I try my best not to put you down
But there's a hole in my head where the words fall out
I dont care what faithless people say
    Should I care?'

So thats like when he caught her and then

'We take our chances every day
We watch those bleeding hearts decay
Id walk through walls, would it make you stay?

I burnt my bridges and I burned my friends
If I had my time, Id do it again
I don't care what faithless people say
    I don't care'

Is like how he used to act and feel when he was seventeen.

General CommentSounds kind of pedo-ish to me, despite her being "of age" per se.

General CommentI'll be honest, I don't really get this song (I'm generally crap at interpreting songs and poetry) but I have to say, as someone who used to be REALLY sick of Jet, I absolutely LOVE this song!!

General CommentYeah I really like this song too, and I don't have a clue what it's about either. Makes me feel really good though cos it's such a happy song and it's been stuck in my head all week through all my exams.

General CommentIt is kinda confusing.. although he might be refering to the age 17 because he says' 'seventeen, dont change one thing'. Could mean he's singing about her being younger than him, in a relationship. No idea :S

General CommentHe's with a girl who's seventeen years old and he

"don't care what faithless people say".

    "We take our chances everyday"

    regardless of the odds.

    "That's seventeen girl"

    He's singing about his girl.

"I don't wanna talk, I wanna go home
    ...
I want you to follow me home"

    He's taking her home.

"Coz I know this star that we transcend
Could be the only chance we get"

    is an astrological metaphor.

"Seventeen, Ive never been here before"

This is the first time he's dated a 17yo.

Nic Cester is to celebrate 31st birthday on the 6th of July BTW :o
