"Feel It in My Bones" as written by Dennis J. Waakop Reijers-fraaij and Tijs M. Verwest....
Blow by blow
I didn't see it coming
Blow by blow
Sucker Punched

Rushes in
Here to stay
Rushes in
You are here to stay

What rushes into my heart and my skull
I can't control
Think about it
Feel it in my bones
What rushes into my heart and my skull
I can't control

I feel you in my bones
You're knocking at my windows
You're slow to letting me go
And I know this feeling also
This feeling in my bones

Left hook
I didn't see it coming
Left hook
You've got dead aim

Rushes out
Run away
Rushes out
You always run away

What rushes into my heart and my skull
I can't control
Think about it
Feel it in my bones
What rushes into my heart and my skull
I can't control

I feel you in my bones
You're knocking at my windows
You're slow to letting me go
And I know this feeling also
This feeling in my bones

I feel you in my bones
You're knockin' at my windows
You're slow to letting me go
And I know this feeling also
This feeling in my bones

I feel it in my bones
And then my skull feels (pressure)
I feel it in my bones (pressure)
I feel it in my skull
I feel you in my bones
You're knocking at my windows
You're slow to letting me go
And I know this feeling also
This feeling in my bones

I take a breath
Take a breath
With me blow by blow
Take a break
Take a break
From you you are here to stay
I take my heart out of my chest
I just don't need it anymore
Take my hand up again
I just don't need it anymore

I take a breath
Take a breath
With me blow by blow
Take a break
Take a break
From you you are here to stay
I take my heart out of my chest
I just don't need it anymore
Take my hand up again
I just don't need it anymore

I feel you in my bones
You're knocking at my windows
You're slow to letting me go
And I know this feeling also
This feeling in my bones

My InterpretationMy interpretation of this song has a lot to do with my personal experience. I think it fits beautifully.

This is by no means a sad song!

The narrator of this song is taken aback by someone. They didn't expect this person to show up in their life (blow by blow I didn't see it coming), but he or she feels it in his or her bones that the other person is there to stay. It is completely based on intuition and not intellect or fact. (I feel it in my bones.)

The narrator also feels that the other person feels the same. (You're slow to letting me go.)

Apparently, they are on a break right now. Maybe the connection was a bit scary as it was unexpected, especially for the other person. (Run away. Rushes out. You always run away.)

As far as the following lyrics go:

(I take a breath, take a breath with me blow by blow) = "Let's take it slow! I'm afraid too!"

(I take a break, take a break, tell me you are here to stay) = "We take breaks, but I'm still here to stay. Please tell me you are too, to save me from feeling insane."

(I take my heart out of my chest, I just don’t need it anymore) = Possibly: "I don't need my heart anymore, I know what I feel"

(Take my head out of the game, I just don’t need it anymore) = "I'm not playing 'the game' anymore. You're the one."

Let me know what you think!

General CommentI agree, even if its a dance song, it still has the Tegan and Sara vibe.
I love when Sara says "you are here to stay" and "you always run away" its amazing :)

General CommentI hope you guys know that this song was about Sara's previous girlfriend whom she really fell for but they've broken up, hence the whole broken-heart song. No domestic violence, no blow jobs (they're lesbians!), and none other of that sort.

General CommentI think this song is definitely about an unexpected breakup.
It's talking about all the things that pop into your head that you can't help but think.
The emotions and the feeling of "Well, I'm done trying now".

General Commentway to be quick in posting these, lol. awesome song, and a great beat. it's deffinetly Tegan and Sara even if it's a little dance-y.
"I take my heart out of my chest,
I just don't need it anymore
Take my head out of the game,
I just don't need it anymore"
That is like the best part of the song, to me anywayss : D

General CommentI think it "Left Hook, you've got dead aim" instead of "you've got today"

General Commentdef don;t think its about domestic violence. That seems WAYYY
to literal for Tegan and Sara and music/art in general.

That's the whole point of art in the first place. To conceal
meaning and to leave in up for interpretation.

General CommentI think this song can be interpreted many ways and I know when I first heard it I thought of this person that was once my "best friend". It could be mental or physical abuse... for many years I put up with a fair-weather-friend and I can imagine them realizing I am letting them go. It can be about any kind of break up such as a friendship or relationship. Also I had a thought that "you're knocking on my window" - could mean that because the person is letting them go the thoughts of them are now haunting them at night.
