"Never Surrender" as written by John Cooper and Dave Bassett....
Do you know what it's like when
You're scared to see yourself
Do you know what it's like when
You wish you were someone else
Who didn't need your help to get by
Do you know what it's like
To wanna surrender

I don't wanna feel like this tomorrow
I don't wanna live like this today
Make me feel better
I wanna feel better
Stay with me here now
And never surrender
(never surrender)

Do you know what it's like when
You're not who you wanna be
Do you know what it's like to
Be your own worst enemy
Who sees the things in me I can't hide
Do you know what it's like to wanna surrender

I don't wanna feel like this tomorrow
I don't wanna live like this today
Make me feel better
I wanna feel better
Stay with me here now
And never surrender

Make me feel better
You make me feel better
You make me feel better
Put me back together

I don't wanna feel like this tomorrow
I don't wanna live like this today
Make me feel better
I wanna feel better
Stay with me here now
And never surrender

Put me back together
Never surrender
Make me feel better
I need to feel better
Stay with me here now
And never surrender

My InterpretationI love this song. It describes my personal experiences quite well. When I listen to this song I'm reminded of all the torturous bullying I had to endure through middle school. I cannot begin to guess how many times I wanted to end all the needless pain and suffering, but I held on. Even now, even though the being bullied days are over at last, I still suffer from various things. I still want so badly to just give up and surrender, but I keep on going, because I know my reward later on will be great. I keep on going because I promised myself to never abandon my friends, my family, my girlfriend, my God. It's hard, but if that's what it takes....that's what I think of when I hear this song.

General CommentHm this song seems to me about how the world is trying to conform him, to suck him into all the lies in this world, and maybe he's starting to give in.. but he's still determined to not surrender and hes calling out to God for help to not give in.

I dunno thats kind of how I took it, but it's probably off :P

My InterpretationI see this song as a sequel to 'Sometimes.' Especially the chorus:

"Sometimes I don't wanna be better
Sometimes I can't be put back together
Sometimes I find it hard to believe
There's someone else who could be
Just as messed up as me"

And the the chorus to 'Never Surrender':

"I don't wanna feel like this tomorrow
I don't wanna live like this today
    Make me feel better
    I wanna feel better
    Stay with me here now
    And never surrender"

General CommentI remember hearing this song after a friend died, and it just having such a strong meaning for me now.

I feel that the song is about someone who is struggling in their walk with God, but doesn't want to fall. Doesn't want to surrender to the darkness, that I feel.

General Commentcan't believe no one has commented, this is one of my favorites on the album.
this song is a lot like imperfection on their first one.
it's about not being satisfied with your life or having everything go wrong, but having a friend there to make you feel better.
    love it.

General Commenti agree with randisn...i think it's about how sometimes we can be our own worst enemies and we feel like we can't go on but God is saying "Stay with me here and never surrender" as long as we stick with God no matter how hard life is, we can make it through. God can make us better <3

My InterpretationBefore I read this comments I didn't know Skillet is a Christian band, so I didn't even think about the possibility of it being about god. Maybe it is, but because to me it is just like a situation I know I thought about something else...

It could be about depression, wishing to be someone else who is able to be happy while the singer feels bad all the time, hating yourself, and not being able to accept help. Only you can see the bad things (which are probably not even there, or not that worse as you see them). You just want to give up (surrender). But after a long time you want to get better and get out of this situation, part because you have met someone who can help you and someone you are able to talk to about the situation.

Just because I have experienced this situation, made me think about it when I heard the song. But it could be about something entirely different, who knows?

--sorry if my english is quite bad... I'm still trying to improve it.

General CommentTo me it sounds like he has a drug problem or something and he has a friend or a woman who is helping him through it, "I dont want to feel like this tomorrow" (He is tired of his addiction) "i dont wanna live like this today" (he is tired of his life being controlled by the substance.
