Do you hear me?
I'm talking to you
Across the water, across the deep blue ocean
Under the open sky, oh my
Baby, I'm trying
Boy, I hear you in my dreams
I feel your whisper across the sea
I keep you with me in my heart
You make it easier when life gets hard

Lucky I'm in love with my best friend
Lucky to have been where I have been
Lucky to be coming home again

Ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh

They don't know how long it takes
(They don't know how long it takes)
Waiting for a love like this
Every time we say goodbye
(Every time we say goodbye)
I wish we had one more kiss
I'll wait for you, I promise you, I will, I'm

Lucky I'm in love with my best friend
Lucky to have been where I have been
Lucky to be coming home again

Lucky we're in love in every way
Lucky to have stayed where we have stayed
Lucky to be coming home someday

And so I'm sailing through the sea
To an island where we'll meet
You'll hear the music fill the air
I'll put a flower in your hair
Though the breezes, through the trees
You move so pretty, you're all I see
As the world keeps spinning 'round
You hold me right here, right now

Lucky I'm in love with my best friend
Lucky to have been where I have been
Lucky to be coming home again

Lucky we're in love in every way
Lucky to have stayed where we have stayed
Lucky to be coming home someday

Ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh
Ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh

    Song Meaning

To Me, This Song Is About Two People Who Used To Be Friends And Then They Became More But They Don't See Each Other Very Much, Though They Always Talk To Each Other So Its Like There Is An Ocean Between Them But They Still Hear Each Other. Then Where It Says The Part About Sailing Through The Sea To An Island, The Sea Is The Barrier That Keeps Them From Meeting And The Island Is Where They Finally Can Physically Be With Each Other And When They Are Together, It's Like Paradise.

    MY FAVOURITE SONG <3

My best guy friend told me to listen to it a while ago - recently he told me he loves me, but I have a boyfriend. I'm in love with my friend though - but he doesn't talk to me anymore :( what he doesn't know is that I'm trying to end it with my boyfriend...

It's my favourite song because it reminds me of a time when the one guy I'm in love with was in love with me too...

This song gives me a feeling that, two close friends can't admit their love to one an another. The guy telling that i am trying to say that i am in love with you but i dont have the courage. Where he says "Across the water across the deep blue ocean Under the open sky oh my, baby I'm trying".He says he tries to tell it but he prefers her to admit it first. When the girls turn comes, she says i do understand your feelings deeply in my heart but i also could not admit it. In video i think that's why they are in different places. Both of them know that they are perfect for each other but they cant say it to face-to-face.

    My Interpretation

I use to listen to this song when my husband was deployed. Just listen to the song or read the lyrics and you'll understand why I feel like this song was meant for a deployment. It's absolutely beautiful!

"Do you hear me, I'm talking to you Across the water across the deep blue ocean Under the open sky, oh my, baby I'm trying"

Soldiers can't always call home when they are deployed. So every call you get from your loved one is absolutely amazing! I use to get messages from my husband that would make my day. I know he tried his hardest to let me know he was okay every day. But it's not possible for that to happen every day.

"Boy I hear you in my dreams I feel your whisper across the sea I keep you with me in my heart You make it easier when life gets hard."

That is just beautiful. I use to wear a necklace when my husband was deployed. It was a set of praying hands with the Serenity prayer on the back and his unit crest on it. It was always near to my heart.

"I'm lucky I'm in love with my best friend Lucky to have been where I have been Lucky to be coming home again."

My husband is my best friend and I'm so in love with him. And I'm LUCKY for the things that I have gone through in my past (lucky to have been where I have been) because it lead me to him. And we were SO lucky and blessed to have him come home alive and well.

"They don't know how long it takes Waiting for a love like this Every time we say goodbye I wish we had one more kiss I'll wait for you I promise you, I will."

This has got to be my favorite part in the song. Deployments drag on for both the soldier and the spouse and it's hard on both. And of course, there are multiple deployments so it's special to have someone at home in the states waiting for you and someone who cares about how you are and what you are doing for our country. Someone who will never take you for granted and cherishes each and every minute that they've ever spent with you. You remember the last kiss and hold it dear to your heart. The deployments may be long (up to a year depending on which branch and what your job entails) but the soldier you are waiting for is SO worth the wait. It's the best feeling in to world to see them after so long.

"And so I'm sailing through the sea To an island where we'll meet You'll hear the music fill the air I'll put a flower in your hair Though the breezes through the trees Move so pretty you're all I see As the world keeps spinning round You hold me right here right now."

For some reason I picture this part as a dream. Like I'll see you in my dreams. Nothing else matters in this moment but each other.

WOW this is such a great song. It's even better when your girlfriend tells you that if she could sing any song to you, it would this one. I had never heard of it before she sent it to me, and not i cant stop listening to it. It fits perfectly in every way. She goes to school in indiana and am in california, but we will get to see each other soon since its summer. This song makes me love her more and miss her terribly at the same time. I love it

This a catchy beautiful song. I think that being in love with your best friend can have different circumstances.Like some others have mentioned, for me I feel like I found someone that I love so much and get along with so well that they have become my best friend. This song applies to my bf and I so much since I am in Hawaii and he is in Canada. I can't wait to be by his side everyday!

No Surprises

Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
