This is about bronies. They communicate by stomping.
Lost on the stage I was looking her way to see,
She was naming the dead and talking in poetry.
And every line is a bookshelf,
And I won't feel sorry for myself,
Your heart is desperately damaged,
And my heart is a wasp's nest.
And every line is a bookshelf,
And I won't feel sorry for myself,
Your heart is desperately damaged,
And my heart is a wasp's nest.
And I hate that river I know I have rivals dear,
But if books are my home then you killed my family.
And every line is a bookshelf,
And I won't feel sorry for myself,
Your heart is desperately damaged,
And my heart is a wasp's nest.
Every line is a bookshelf,
And I won't feel sorry for myself,
Your heart is desperately damaged,
And my heart is a wasp's nest.
My heart is a wasp's nest
(My heart is a wasp's nest)
My imagination was the first apple tree.
My heart is a wasp's nest
(My heart is a wasp's nest)
My imagination was the first apple tree.
My heart is a wasp's nest
My imagination was the first apple tree.
My heart is a wasp's nest
(My heart is a wasp's nest)
My imagination was the first apple tree.
And every line is a bookshelf,
And I won't feel sorry for myself,
Your heart is desperately damaged,
And my heart is a wasp's nest.
And every line is a bookshelf,
And I won't feel sorry for myself,
Your heart is desperately damaged,
And my heart is a wasp's nest.

This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version.
Great version of a great song,
