"Cement Shoes" as written by and Steven Allen Dail Andrew Albert Schwab....
I stalked serenity with blind obsession
and found possession as I lost control
The secret vice that proclaimed my freedom
is now a slavery that’s all my own

My Own
My Own
My Own

I’m powerless to this voice
I’ll never prevail alone

Desperate
We will proclaim
That on our knees
We’re not ashamed
So we bow it to
bow it to
Kneel before you
Just like a child here I’m not ashamed
No, we’re not ashamed

And so in urgency we now concede
That we are helpless in this undertow
Cause in surrender now there just might be
a new serenity thats all my own

Song MeaningIt seems to me this song is about we can be slaves to our own desires and how only God can help us break free.

    General CommentProper lyrics:

I stalked serenity with blind obsession,
And found possession as I lost control.
The secret vice that proclaimed my freedom,
Is now a slavery that’s all my own.

My own, my own, my own.
    I’m powerless to this voice,
    I’ll never prevail alone.

    Desperate, we will proclaim,
That on our knees, we’re not ashamed.
And so we bow it to, bow it to,
    Kneel before You.
Just like a child, here, I’m not ashamed.
    No, we’re not ashamed.

And so, in urgency, we now concede,
That we are helpless in this undertow.
'Cause in surrender now, there just might be,
A new serenity that's all my own.

My own, my own, my own.
    I’m powerless to this voice,
    I’ll never prevail alone.

    Desperate, we will proclaim,
That on our knees, we’re not ashamed.
And so we bow it to, bow it to,
    Kneel before You.
Just like a child, here, I’m not ashamed.
    No, we’re not ashamed.

    Ohh...

And so we bow it to, bow it to,
    Kneel before You.
    [x4]

    Desperate, we will proclaim,
That on our knees, we’re not ashamed.
And so we bow it to, bow it to,
    Kneel before You.
Just like a child, here, I’m not ashamed.
    No, we’re not ashamed.

    Ohh...

General CommentEh, I just copy/pasted off the P86 Web site. I'll edit it later on when I'm at an actual computer, if you'd like. (I'm on my phone, at the moment.)

My InterpretationI think that this song is about putting assumed hope in "false" prayers. We hope that what ever we say to God will be answered exactly when and in the way we want to,(which in some cases is wrong).
