"In Rodanthe" as written by and Emmylou Harris....
I remember those nights down in Rodanthe
Through the storm, through the darkness how you held me
I never knew I was so lost until you touched me
And I was set free
In the hours while the sky was wild and weepy
You broke me from the secret I'd been keeping
Before you there was no love and no believing
I was only green
Until Rodanthe
Where the seagulls go soaring in the sun
High above the rugged ponies as they run
And you pull me like the moon pulls on the tide
To your side
In Rodanthe
Oh oh Carolina
Where I was yours and you were mine
Oh oh Carolina
Where we found the only tie that truly binds
Mornings come and go here in Rodanthe
And in my heart you'll always be there with me
As my journey through this world keeps getting longer
I will be strong
For I know I must go on without you
Every moment of my life I'll play you back
Oh I still hear those words of love you gave me
When you saved me
Down in Rodanthe
Where the seagulls go soaring in the sun
High above the rugged ponies as they run
And you pull me like the moon pulls on the tide
To your side
In Rodanthe

Lyric CorrectionWell, this is my first comment here and I had to write in to correct the above interpretation of the lyrics, which seem to have been pulled from any of the lyrics sites out there (since they all seem to have the same wrong words)...

Anyhow, the above lyrics are very messed up, to the point that they make absolutely no sense. After finally seeing the movie and then listening to the lyrics, I wanted to correct the errors. Emmylou Harris borrowed some lines from the movie, which is not reflected in the above lyrics, but are in my version, below. Here are the words as I hear them:

    In Rodanthe

I remember those nights down in Rodanthe
Through the storm, through the darkness, how you held me
I never knew I was so lost until you touched me
    And I was set free

In the hours, when the sky was wild and weeping
You broke me from a the secret I’d been keeping
Before you, there was no love and no believing
    I was only grieving
    Until Rodanthe

Where the seagulls go soaring in the sun
High above the rugged ponies as they run
And you pull me like the moon pulls on the tide
    To your side
    In Rodanthe

    Oh, oh, Carolina
Where I was yours and you were mine
    Oh, oh, Carolina
Where we found the only tie that truly binds

Mornings come and go here in Rodanthe
And in my heart, you'll always be there with me
As my journey through this world keeps getting longer
    I will be stronger

For though I know I must go on without you
Every moment of my life I'll think about you
Oh I still hear those words of love you gave me
    When you saved me
    Down in Rodanthe

Where the seagulls go soaring in the sun
High above the rugged ponies as they run
And you pull me like the moon pulls on the tide
    To your side
    In Rodanthe

    Oh oh oh oh oh…

I don't know if anyone else will care about the words, but I have to admit that the movie made an impact on me and I wanted to see the words corrected. I think anyone who saw the movie knows t=what the meaning of the song is, and anyone who reads the real words shold be able to figure out the meaning without seeing the movie.

Thanks, and thanks for a good site.
