I heard he's trying to write himself, out of a hole he'd dug.
I heard his new mantra is "the more I kill, the more I love."
I heard he spends most his time, staring at the lock on the door.
Well some people never change, even if change is what they're wishing for.

Lionkiller got married, I heard some slag say.
I said see you next Tuesday, in the English way.

I heard they married for the wedding, but his equinox came true.
I feel sorry for that kid. He had potential. I mean it. I really do.
One guy said the dumb kid, went looking for censorship and found it on the stage.
I just wonder why anyone in their right mind, would get married nowadays.

Lionkiller for married, or is it just his say.
Said see you next Tuesday, but in an English way.

You see this is what happens, when a light motif implodes.
I'll give him one credit though; he has man wrath his moat.
And what about the lion? Did he come disguised as a man of chi?
I heard the lion was invited to the big day, but the beast was cowardly.

Lionkiller got married, to a shrew named Kay.
She said see you next Tuesday, but in an English way.

And the girl what's her angle on this?
I mean like, what does she do?
I heard she came from a family of, catholic atheists too.
Alright I'll cut those kids some slack. I'm not really all that conceded.
I wish them all of my best, because they're gonna need it.

Lionkiller got married, and they live near LA.
So we'll see you next Tuesday, and in the English way.

Lyric CorrectionThis is a lovely song with a great pace. There is always more to decode in his songs, which is what I love about Cass McCombs.

    when a LEITMOTIF impodes...

I'll give him one credit, though. He has mastered all his modes.
And what about the lion? Did he come disguised as a Medici?

    C'mon get literate!

** Also, Cass weaves in a clever dig at... his ex-wife: See You Next Tuesday = C. U. N. T. All very English, too, even down to the use of "slag" for slut.

Well, his ex-wife, I assume... and make an ASS out of U and ME. Fun stuff. Great song. Listen to "Lionkiller" and follow it up with "Lionkiller Got Married." Find some more insight into the blurring between the narrator and the songwriter himself.

My InterpretationThis song is about gossip to me. It's written from the point of view of gossipy or superficial friends who are against a marriage--hence "I heard..." being repeated. I think he's saying "C.U. Next Tuesday" to his friends and not his wife or ex wife.
