"Ground Beneath My Feet" as written by and Dan Koch....
I saw the light dance on your face
Paint the shadows of your shape
Back when the season made the days so long

And if I knew my time would come
With the lines rehearsed but never sung
I'd leave the chorus on your tongue
I swear

Now I look around to see the ground beneath my feet
Every second takes a thousand days away from me
And if i close my eyes
I hear the gates swing wide
And by the morning light
I will have seen both sides

I've got a funny feeling that it's my day to leave
Shoulders down the sweat drips across my cheek
As I turn I can taste the salt in the shallow sea
I feel their hearts beating next to me
I hear the chatter of my teeth

And I look around to see the ground beneath my feet
The final thrill, the quiet spill, the vile retreat
Do you see the waves running away from me?
You taste the cold here in the air i breathe
Why'd you let me go? 'Cause I can no longer see

And I scream
Oh my god
Oh my god
Oh my god
Oh my god
Oh my god
Oh my god

Now I look around to see the ground beneath my feet
Every second takes a thousand days away from me
If I close my eyes
I hear the gates swing wide
And by the morning light
I will have seen both sides
So why'd you let me go?
I can no longer see
And I can't breathe

General Comment"The quiet spill, the vile retreat" should be "the quiet spill of our retreat", at least according to the album insert.

General CommentThis is my favorite song on the album so far. It's so full of life, and I love how it starts going in one direction, and it ends in a completely different place.

General CommentThis song is beautiful... more melancholy than the rest of the album, mayhap. Not sure exactly what it's about. Could be about a break-up or just leaving someone in general... but it kind of reminds me of someone dying, too....
