"Blessed Infection" as written by Michael Schleibaum, Paul Wayne Burnette, Michael Carrigan Theobald, John Henry and Ryan Littlefield Parrish....
It sets in with a vengeance
An attach on all the senses
A paralyzing presence

They'll hunt you down
One at a time
They'll hunt you down
One at a time

The closer they get
There's nowhere to run from the one with no reflection
Hits when you least expect it
Contagious and spreading it's blessed infection

They'll hunt you down
One at a time
They'll hunt you down
One at a time

The closer they get
There's nowhere to run from the one with no reflection
Hits when you least expect it
Contagious and spreading its blessed infection

Defiled with malicious intent
A sickness in your head
A sickness with no end
Somewhere someone holds the cure
Holding out on the rest of us
Blessed and infectious

They'll hunt you down
One at a time
They'll hunt you down
One at a time

The closer they get
There's nowhere to run from the one with no reflection
Hits when you least expect it
Contagious and spreading its blessed infection

General CommentI don't think Vampires is quite what John was thinking of when writing this song.

By saying that the infection is "Blessed" it is implying that religion is the infection. Throughout the album believers of religion and non believers are referenced to having or not having a reflection. An example of this is in "No God," there is a lyric that says "There's no salvation in a world where you worship your reflection." In this song "There's nowhere to run from the one with no reflection." Implies implies that religion is a falsehood spread by people with the same infectious idea. I think that John compares religion to an infection because it is an easy way for people to think about their world. It is easy to say that there is an invisible guy in the sky that loves us, wants to teach us lessons and to live a good life. Human beings are constantly looking for the easiest way of doing things and religion is the easiest way of understanding life. In contrast it is hard and kind of scary to think critically and logically about existence. Easy to understand ideas spread like infection through the laypeople of our society.

    General CommentVAMPIRES!!!

Hunters that you cant run from, and when they hunt for you you cant hide.

Ones with no reflection? Definatly vampires.

Which the whole thing could all be a metaphor for people who prey off of others their whole live and never do anything for themselfs.
