This is one of my favorite songs. https://fnfgo.io
The night is deafening
When the silence is listening
And I'm down on my knees,
And I know that something is missing.
Because the
Back of my mind is holding things I'm relying in
But I choose to ignore it
Because I'm always denying them
I'm a
Bit of a manic when it's not as I plan it
'Cause I start losing my head
And then I get up in a panic
Remember when we were kids
And always knew when to quit it
Are we denying a crisis
Or are we scared of admitting it?
I don't want to know
I just want to run to you
And break off the chains,
And throw them away
I just want to be so much
And shake off the dust that turned me to rust
Sooner than later,
I'll need a saviour,
I'll need a saviour.
It won't ever change
If you want it to stay the same
I really hate it but I know
It's hard to choose if you're chained and when it's all
All you control 'cause you've got nothing else to hold
You're getting tighter and tighter,
It's getting harder to let it go
I don't want to know
I just want to run to you (I just want to run)
And break off the chains,
And throw them away
I just want to be so much (I just want to be)
And shake off the dust that turned me to rust
Sooner than later,
I'll need a saviour,
I'll need a saviour.
Stand me up and maybe I won't be so small
Free my hands and feet
And maybe I won't always fall
Save me
I just want to run to you (I just want to run)
And break off the chains, (save me)
And throw them away
I just want to be so much (I just want to be)
And shake off the dust (save me)
That turned me to rust
I just want to run to you (just want to run to you)
And break off the chains (save me)
And throw them away
I just want to be so much (just want to be so much)
And shake off the dust (save me)

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve.
The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future.
Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere"
The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”
Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example:
"'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

This is such a cute and meaningful song about that one person everyone needs in their life--a "saviour"
A saviour can be a friend, a lover, a significant other...anyone. They're that one person we go to in our time of need when we need a shoulder to cry on or someone to vent to and talk things out with. Basically, we "just want to run to" them as if seeing them/being around them will solve all of life's problems.
This song was amazing played live at Warped Tour. <3 I'm soo excited for the The Listening to come out! [:
Quote from LIGHTS:
"'Saviour' is a big example of taking one of those really dark emotional situations and turning it into something positive. I just happened to get hit with a really dark sad night. The melody started coming together and the words started pouring out. I was crying when I wrote the first line of the chorus and it actually sounds kind of like crying. It's a really, really powerful song for me."
<3
This song holds one heck of a meaning to me, and I consider it my theme song. I cry every time...
To me, I think this song means always turning to the one you look up to the most, and/or becoming someone more/greater (Hence, "I just want to be so much," sentence). After watching the music video, I think she's talking about being a hero, wanting so badly to become someone greater, and save the world. In the beginning of the music video, she's drawing Captain Lights (from her online comic, "AUDIO QUEST: A Capt. Lights Adventure") on a piece of paper, then you'll notice the drawing looks like it's coming out of the paper, coming to life.
The part of the song that touches me the most is; "It won't ever change if you want it to stay the same. I really hate it, but I know it's hard to chose if you're chained. And when it's all you can control, 'Cause you've got nothing else to hold. You're getting tighter and tighter, it's getting harder to let it go!"
These words was when I really started crying...she's talking about when you don't want life to change, it'll most likely just stay the way you want it, but for people who want something more, they need to chase after it (AKA, chase after their dreams), but certain things are impossible to reach, but you keep holding onto that dream, and it gets harder to let it go. Reality pretty much is what holds dreamers away from the Fantasy world, and the only thing they can really do is draw, write music, imagine and dream.
And Lights, is definitely, a dreamer. =) <3
I feel like I can relate to this song so much right now.
I looooove the line "I just wanna run to you And break off the chains and throw them away."
gets me everytime!
Im pretty sure most of lights songs have Christian undertones, this song as well as lions!, second go and drive my soul are all about God
I was kinda skeptical going into this song, not being religious at all and one might see why the title "saviour" might put me off. but i found it on youtube the day of its release, and played it for the rest of the day. i stayed up till midnight for the release of the video and watched that for a while. oh and its the top played song on my iTunes. by a landslide. and at 2:21 i get chills everytime. when she says save me, i feel like saying pick an organ its yours. lol.
but meaning wise i agree with LovelyMauve. we all need that one person to run to, that can make us feel safe with. that we can do the stuff we did as kids with and be alright with that. its alright to feel not in control when you're with this person because you feel like they can help right wrongs and shake off the dust thats turned you to rust.
Sorry to contradict, but the song seems to be more about The Savior rather than just A Savior.
This comes from the fact that she is Christian, she mentions something missing, holding on to things she knows she shouldn't but putting them in the back of her head so she doesn't see it, and having to chose and its hard to chose right because you want to be in control, and then breaking off the chains and being free.
This song screams Christian.
I definitely think that this song is about God, more than any of her other songs. When I first heard it, I would listen to it on bad days, and I would cry when I listened. It's so amazing. Not only do we all need a saviour, but that Saviour is always there for us to turn to. <3
I think your right pepsicola1295, honestly i wasnt sure who or what this song was targeted for but after a while it started to give me the impression that it was of a more spiritual context, "I'll need a Saviour"... Huge Lights Fan!
@pepsicola1295 bravo!
this song is so f-ing amazing. she seriously has such a way with words. i love her.
I love this song, I can relate to this song because I have depression and it got really bad I was in a sense I was chained away and needed saving from someone and it turns out that, that saviour was my best friend who manage to help me break free from my depression.
I love this song, but the correct lyrics are "I'll need a saviour" not "I need a saviour" (: I can't wait for The Listening :D
