"Cobra Con" as written by and Joshua Moore Derek W. Webb....
You wanna rock with the cops on the front line
You wanna kick it with the people in the back
You strike a match and you throw back a cocktail
There's got to be a better way

Cus it is hard to stay
It is hard to wait
To out-love, to out-suffer them

I wanna dream up a world I wanna live in
I wanna spray it on a building downtown
I wanna protest for
Cus there's got to be a better way

I don't wanna wait
No drugs nor sleep
I wanna hold your hand, really

God bless these bombs
Baptize this rope
Lie with us in the bed we've made

My InterpretationIn a nutshell, the meaning is that it's harder (but better) to turn the other cheek than fight back, as explained in the choruses.

In the verses he lists some ways to NOT turn the other cheek (police, backroom politics, Molotov cocktails) and says there has to be a better way. Then he lists ways to help the needy (dream of a better world, advertise it, protest on behalf of the sick & poor) as a better way.

In the bridge he tells how the politicized church is failing in this, by pushing our agenda to "do good", but using very evil means to do it (bombings/war, executions, etc.) and asking God to bless our sins because of _why_ we do them.

General CommentThe fourth to last line is "I wanna hold your hand grenade", not "hand, really".

General CommentOn another note, this interpretation is a difficult one for me.
The bridge makes it sound like another of his politically centered songs,
with bombs being dropped, rope for hangings, and that we've made our bed and now we have to sleep in it too.
As for the rest of the song, I'm going to need some help.
