I can only hope it's true enough
That every little thing I do for love
Redeems me from the moments I deem worthy
Of the worst things that I've done
And saves me from myself in times of envy
When I'm missing everyone

If I wake in the morning
I only need two more miracles to be a saint
Everything I promised everyone I'd be
Well, I just ain't

Lately it seems like
Everybody's sick, everybody's dyin' (everybody's dyin')
Build myself a wall of unhappy highs
And only my heart knows my head is lyin', lyin'
Oh glory
I think I see you 'round the bend
And I think I'd try any poison
Get there in the end
Oh glory

(Yeah, yeah, yeah)
(Yeah)

When I'm looking past the silken sheets
Take a breath to notice I'm between
Every little piece of thread in memories
That constitute your dreams

If I wake in the morning
I only need two more miracles to be a saint
Everything I promised everyone I'd be
Well, I just ain't

Lately it seems like
Everybody's sick, everybody's dyin'
Build myself a wall of unhappy highs
And only my heart knows my head is lyin', lyin'
Oh glory
I think I see you 'round the bend
And I think I'd try any poison
Get there in the end
Oh glory

Oh glory
I think I see you 'round the bend
And I think I'd try any poison
Get there in the end
Oh glory
I think I see you 'round the bend
And I think I'd try any poison
Get there in the end

Lately it seems like
Everybody's sick, everybody's dyin' (everybody's dyin')
Build myself a wall of unhappy highs
And only my heart knows my head is lyin', lyin'
Oh glory
I think I see you 'round the bend
And I think I'd try any poison
Get there in the end
(Oh glory)
Oh glory
I think I see you 'round the bend
And I think I'd try any poison
Get there in the end
Oh glory
Oh glory
Oh glory

    My Interpretation

I think this song is about a guy. (brendon i guess) laying in the bed with his girlfriend or lady friend and just telling him about his life and his worries.

in the beginning he talks about what who hopes to be and what everyone else wants him to be and how he hopes he's good enough for them, i think. also just wanting to be happy? (oh glory i think i see you around the bend)

then he says: When I'm looking past the silken sheets Take a breath to notice I'm between Every little piece of thread and memories That constitutes your dreams

which makes me think he's in the bed and they're talking. and he's saying: im sharing everything with you. I'm in your space, where you sleep and where you dream? if you understand what im saying... lol.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.
