"50,000 Unstoppable Watts" as written by and Neil Fallon Dan Maines....
Airstreams tethered together like silver sleeping oxen
All the best locations are located on the margins
Suited for telescoping the interstellar scene
It's a mean killer in the daylight, but that's life for you and me
It's a reliable source of information.
Fifty thousand unstoppable watts.

Anthrax, ham radio, and liquor.

What if I told you they been lying
About that double wide with water rights?
And now the town cars are back again!
They sold you some old line
About the greater good and sacrifice
Your friends from Langley are back again!
It's a reliable source of information
Fifty thousand unstoppable watts.

Anthrax, ham radio, and liquor.
Coming at you live!

It's just some people can only see the stars
In the reflection from big black cars.
It's a reliable source of information
Fifty thousand unstoppable watts.

General CommentWow, some of you are really off-base here.

First of all, 50,000 unstoppable watts would most likely refer to our informational means (ie: Radio & Television). This means that the general population relies solely on what the national media tells them.

    As for this line

"Your friends from Langley are back again"

This is a direct shot at the CIA, which is headquartered in the unincorporated community of Langley, in McLean, Virginia.

The name Langley is often used in conjunction with the CIA.

Coincidentally, Langley is also the town which "American Dad" is set in. See my point?

General CommentI think this song has a lot to do with internet conspiracy hunters as well as what you guys have mentioned already.

    Certainly the line;

'It's just some people can only see the stars
In the reflection from big black car'

Makes me think of people on the net who are constantly scrutinising the government - also the video sort of lends itself to that theory, IMO.

Song MeaningMany AM radio stations are broadcast with 50,000 watts of power.
The 'airstreams' are radio waves, the simile to oxen is to indicate that we send information on the airstreams much like we load up oxen as beast of burden.
Not totally sure about the margins part, tho it may have something to do with tuning frequencies.
The telescope line is an obvious reference radio telescopes used to study space.
Mean killer in the daylight, I think, is a reference to radiation in general emitted by the sun that can cause interference with radio and would be deadly if not for the earths magnetosphere.
Reliable source of information is because news is broadcast on the radio.
Anthrax, ham radio and liquor seems to simply indicate listening to Anthrax, getting drunk and messing around with HAM radio - pretty straightforward.

The second and last parts go off in a different direction about dubious government agencies lying to folks, using the american dream as a sales pitch.

General CommentOk just a thought... Who saw 2012... Think woody harrelsons charecter.
The song i think is about the fringe of conspiracy theorists.. Many of whom live on the fringes/margins of society, broadcasting their beliefs as the truth via ham radios out of their airstreams, or in me harrelsons case his Winnebago.
The anthrax reference is the belief of many of these theorists that the anthrax attacks on the us were a false flag attack perpetrated by our govt to further some nefarious agenda, and these guys are reporting it as the truth, with their bottles of jack next to them, from their trailers.
The black town cars alludes to the CIA/NSA/govt who are popular targets for the theories. Double wides and water rights refers to the first big scam of the govt in duping the Indians out of their land by using false promises...
I kno the song came out b4 the movie but it coincidentally is an accurate visual reference of what I think this song depicts.
And remember just because you're paranoid doesn't mean no one is out to get you:)

General Comment'Airstreams tethered together like silver sleeping oxen' 'It's a reliable source of information."
power lines transferring are addiction of electricity and communication.

'What if I told you they been lying
About that double wide with water rights?
And now the town cars are back again!
They sold you some old line
About the greater good and sacrifice
Your friends from Langley are back again!'
the government or 'town cars / Langley' have obtain land by lying about the many acts dealing with 'water rights' (clean water, endangered species, or federal power act) or Eminent Domain.

'It's just some people can only see the stars
In the reflection from big black cars.'
wild guess here, no one can appreciate the stars anymore because those in the big black cars will end up taking all the 'country' land.

just a guess on the whole thing.

(The 'Airsteams' i think He's referenceing are the Aluminum Recreational Trailers)
All the best locations are located on the margins
(Any drive on the interstate through the southwest will show how many people inhabit the barren outskirts of the desert in trailer houses, much like the aforementioned "Airstreams')
Suited for telescoping the interstellar scene
(Ever see the sky outside the city? so many stars... it's really breath taking)
It's a mean killer in the daylight, but that's life for you and me
(The desert sucks will the sun is up, but at night it gets amazing).
(Obviously my frame of reference is the Southwestern Desert of the United States, but I'm sure it's similar no matter the landscape.)

jchvoid, I definitely like the more metaphorical take on the first verse.

Critique of federal agencies sucking up land that they feel entitled to or the global elite's lust to control everything on the planet sounds about right for Clutch. One of the many things that keeps me listening to them year after year!
