Like the firm decision to bring forth axe to head.
I want this winged metal to go down.
Unfortunately for the ones I'm with I wont stop wishing, hoping, believing that eventually its weight will bring it down.

A small hint of me wants to save the young on board but I know what will happen.
The jaded will come tease them with years of no worries only to break it at the neck without warning.

Like the firm decision to bring forth axe to head.
I want this winged metal to go down.
Unfortunately for the ones I'm with I wont stop wishing, hoping, believing that eventually its weight will bring it down.

Butterflies nest in my body.
As I wait for it to happen I know how my story will end.
I've just never had the ground rush at me that fast.
I may regret my decision.

I've had the same dream over and over.
To be forever immortalized body and facial.
Like those who lived in Pompeii.

Like the firm decision to bring forth axe to head.
I want this winged metal to go down.
Unfortunately for the ones I'm with I wont stop wishing, hoping, believing that eventually its weight will bring it down.

General CommentAbout being in an airplane in a thunderstorm knowing that your not going to make it through, and the experience of certain doom. awesome song and awesome album, concept? i think this song ties into the album meaning the most, The Tropic Rot kinda says that bad things can happen in what seems like paradise.
Being in a plane feeling on top of the world and then it going down to your death. fucking great

    General Commentcorrection:

Seems like the narration is a guy on a plane who wishes the plane would go down to his death, but doesnt want the innocent people to die with him. so besides that everything else applys in my last comment... i think..

General CommentAmazing song, off a pretty good album for PTW. No comments? Surprising.

As for the meaning...I'm not sure. Is this a concept album?

General CommentThe title makes it sound like it was written in the perspective of the 9/11 terrorists.

General Commentthe guy on the plane wanting it to crash for sure has to be correct. i do get the feeling that the guy doesnt really want to commit suicide he just wants to feel what its like going through the experience of a plane going down. since its just something he wants to feel he doesnt want to kill everyone on board with his wishing and hoping but decides it doesnt matter because eventually the young children (which are the only ones he feels guilty about killing) on the plane will become jaded adults. i like the connection with another song on the record where he says he's always died in his dreams because he mentions a dream in this song and in it he dies as well. also i think the pompeii reference has to be what will happen to the bodies when they are burned at such a high temperture when the plane crashes.

"A massive pyroclastic surge headed towards the town at 100kph, carrying lethal gases and hot ash from the eruption column. Death for the inhabitants was slow and painful. They would have inhaled the hot gas and ash that would have caused their lungs to flood with fluid. Subsequent breaths would have mixed more ash in the lungs that would have caused a kind of cement which led to suffocation".

"Following the surge, first pumice and then ash fell on the city out of which only the tallest buildings and gates were visible. Rain fell, turning the ash into a mud which encased the bodies".
