"So It Goes" as written by and Nicholas Orain Lowe....
Remember on night the kid cut off his right arm
In a fit to save a bit of power
He got fifty thousand watts
In a big acoustic tower
Security's so tight tonight
Oh they're ready for a tussle
Gotta keep your backstage passes
'Cause your promoter had the muscle

And so it goes and so it goes
And so it goes and so it goes
But where it's goin' no one knows
And so it goes and so it goes
And so it goes and so it goes
But where it's goin' no one knows

In the tall buildings
Sit the head of our nations
Worthy men from Spain and Siam
All day discussions with the Russians
But they still went ahead
And vetoed the plan
Now up jumped the U.S. representative
He's the one with the tired eyes
747 for the midnight condition
Flyin' back from a peace keepin' mission

And so it goes and so it goes
And so it goes and so it goes
But where it's goin' no one knows
And so it goes and so it goes
And so it goes and so it goes
But where it's goin' no one knows

In the air there's absolution
In the wake of a snaky Persian
On his arm there's a skin tight vision
Wonder why she admires she is hissin'

And so it goes and so it goes
And so it goes and so it goes
But where it's goin' no one knows
And so it goes and so it goes
And so it goes and so it goes
But where it's goin' no one knows

But where it's goin' no one knows
But where it's goin' no one knows
But where it's goin' no one knows

General CommentI wish I could find an official version of these lyrics as these kind of websites usually seem to have lyrics posted phonetically or by people who don't speak the native language of the writer. However, what I have been able to glean is the lyrics are about the ongoing fight for life and inevitability of death. "So it Goes" is a line from "Slaughterhouse Five" referencing either a transition or when someone dies. All the lyrics in this song seem to be about someone or a group of people trying something to prolong life or overcome challenging circumstances when ultimately the outcome may be beyond control 1) young stagehand loses his arm while trying to keep electricity for concert. 2) futility of politicians to keep a plan for world peace. 3) person (or Persian snake charmer?)bit by a snake or maybe a heroin addict O.D.-ing from a needle "bite" ...either way it is a person in a very risky situation now forced to deal with the reality of the bite. FYI, I hear "And in the air there is absolution-

Lyric CorrectionLyrics are so wrong for the last verse! This is the correct lyrics: "In the air there's aftershave lotion / in the wake of a snake hipped Persian / on his arm is a skintight vision / wonder why she ain't mine and she is his, and so it goes..."

Slang term - Snake Hips. Look it up.

General CommentIt's not "snaky persian." It's "snakebit persian." How come I'm the first person to leave a comment on this song? You people have no kultur. You have no civilisation.

    General CommentIndeed.

Seems like a reflection on Cold War uncertainty. Don't know who "the kid" in the first verse is, though.

FYI, I hear "And in the air there is absolution-In the wake of a snake and person-On his arm is a skin tight vision-What a rush, he ain't much she is hissin." the latter part being the point of view of the snake saying (in her hiss) "Boy that was scary for a second, but this guy is actually nothing to fear because now he's dead."
