"Saint Veronika" as written by and Ben Kowalewicz Aaron Solowoniuk....
They found an empty bottle on her windowsill
The day her mother lost her sleeping pills
She was sick and tired of being invisible
Hard to see in color when you're miserable

Veronika, Saint Veronika
You can't leave this world behind
So be strong enough to hold onto us
We're still right here by your side

No one ever thought that she was capable
And the damage done is irreversible
Now she clings to life inside a hospital
Like she's trapped inside a frozen waterfall
Always said her life was never meant to be
Stuck here living someone else's dream
Well beyond your window there is so much more
Even every prison has a open door

Veronika, Saint Veronika
You can't leave this world behind
So be strong enough to hold onto us
It's just not your time to die

And while the angels sleep
All of the devils are awake
Waiting to steal your love
Right outside of Heaven's gate
And all the sacred hearts
Can't numb the feeling from the pain
Cause when the drugs don't work
You're gonna curse His holy name
Damn God, yeah, God, yeah
Damn God, yeah, God, yeah

Veronika, Saint Veronika
You can't leave this world behind
Oh Veronika, Saint Veronika
We're still right here by your side
So be strong enough to hold onto us
You can't leave this world behind
Oh Veronika, Saint Veronika
It's just not your time to die

General CommentIts actually "Damn God." I have the cd, and heard Ben talk about it in a video. I know for a fact that it is Damn God. Plus he says "you're gunna CURSE his holy name"

Song MeaningKerrang! May 30, 2009: "Ian was reading a book called Veronika Decides To Die, a novel by Paulo Coelho. He wrote The Alchemist, which is our bible. He was reading this story and told me what it was about. It's not a direct correlation, but we took the idea of a young woman who commits suicide. She doesn't succeed and ends up in a coma. It's about finding a passion for life. In the story, she comes around and realises life can be okay. It took the most drastic of actions to appreciate what we have is beautiful."

    General CommentI love this song.
As has been said, it's about a girl who tries to commit suicide, but doesn't suceed. And, as was said, it's sort of based on the book Veronika Decides to die.

One of my favourite lines ever (as in - in all music) is "Even every prison has an open door"
It's saying that life doesn't have to be horrible. Even the worst situations have a way out. There is always an escape... and it doesn't have to be death.

When Ben screams... "Damn God, yeah"
That scream... it gets me so high. Seriously, I love it. My friends and I call it the orgasm-inducing scream.

General CommentI like how the person who made the lyrics spelt the name of the song wrong. It's Veroni"k"a. Not a "c"

General CommentThis song was inspired by the book "Veronica decides to die". In the book the protagonist Veronica, who lives in Slovenia, is so bored with her life she decides to overdose on sleeping pills (hence the first two lines of the song). She doesn't kill herself though, and ends up in a mental hospital, where she finds out she has a week to live. You can read more about the book on Wikipedia. This song kicks ass btw, one of the better songs on the album.

General CommentDeathbydesign got it. There was actually an old video up on the band's site where Ben lifts up the book "Veronica Decides to Die" and says it's a great book.

General CommentThis song is petty much irreplacable to me at the moment.
Always loved BT, just learned the solo, and I live in the states, so you gotta give me credit.
