"Every Time You Lie" as written by Jonathan Michael Mclaughlin, John Randall Fields and Demi Lovato....
Now you told me on a Sunday that it wasn't gonna work
I tried to cry myself to sleep 'cause it was supposed to hurt
We sat next to the fire as the flame was burning out
I knew what you were thinkin' before you'd say it aloud

Don't say you're sorry 'cause I'm not even breaking
You're not worth the time that this is taking

I knew better than to let you break my heart
This soul you'll never see again, won't be showing scars
You still love her, I can see it in your eyes
The truth is all that I can hear every time you lie

Every time you lie
Every time you lie

I woke up the next morning with a smile on my face
And a long list of gentlemen, happy to take your place
Less trashier, much classier then who you prove to be
How long's it gonna take before you see that she's no me, oh no

I knew better than to let you break my heart
This soul you'll never see again, won't be showing scars, oh no no
You still love her, I can see it in your eyes
The truth is all that I can hear every time you lie

At night awake
I won't be sleeping 'til morning breaks
That's the price you pay, for your mistakes
Goodbye to dreaming

So don't say you're sorry, 'cause I'm not gonna listen

I knew better than to let you break my heart
This soul you'll never see again, won't be showing scars, oh no no
You still love her, I can see it in your eyes
The truth is all that I can hear every time you lie

Every time you lie
Don't say you're sorry
Every time you lie
Don't say you're sorry
The truth is all that I can hear every time you lie

General Commenti think demi wrote this song about selena's breakup with nick jonas, and "i know u still love her" means he still loves miley cyrus.
    just a guess.
but great song i love it no matter who it's about.

Song MeaningThe thing is, you'd think it's "obvious" that it's about a guy and girl breaking up, and the guy is still in love with his ex. But if you think about it deeply, it could also mean this:

A guy is playing two girls and is lying to them both. He's trying to apologize to the girl in the song, and even though she had strong feelings for him, she just sees him as pathetic and worthless. It didn't hurt as much as she thought it would because she was prepared for it. She knew he was fake.

He still wants her, that's why he keeps trying to apologize. But she knows he's still in love with the other girl, and that he'll keep playing them both... again.

    "Less trashier, much classier
Than who you prove to be
How long's it gonna take before you see that she's no me?"

The girl in the song isn't easy and won't stand to be used by the guy, whereas the girl he's also in love with doesn't care about him and is using him too.

The girl in the song left him before he could break her heart.
"I knew better than to let you break my heart"
Since she left early, she won't be "showing scars"
Because she didn't stay long enough to get hurt by this tool (the guy)

General CommentDemi said in Girls Life that this song "is about a friends breakup. She told me her situation, and then I wrote about it."

My InterpretationIn my opinion, this song is about a relationship that isn't going so well and both of them know it.
She isn't surprised/hurt/upset when they break up because she saw it coming a long time ago.
"We sat next to the fire
As the flame was burning out
I knew what you were thinking
    Before you'd say it aloud"
And that even though he tries to apologize and say that he's sorry about what happened, she knows it's just for show and that she knows him well enough to know when he's lieing. Basically she's like "if you don't care about me, I don't care about you."

General Commentit's about how whenever this person lies to her all she can hear is the truth, she sees past all their lies, this song is amazing.
