Watching once more
As the world passes me by
Surrounded but still all alone
Am I living a lie?

Empty faces, empty eyes
Are staring right through me.
No regret, but still ask why

Take me away
To a place I've never known

This is the price I've paid,
And it's taken it's toll.
Can it be too much to ask
For the time it stole?

Empty faces, empty eyes
Are staring right through me.
No regret, but still ask why

Take me away
To a place I've never known
Take me away
Where my life can be my own.

I only wish that I had stayed
I only wish that I had known

Take me away
To a place I've never known
Take me away
Then my life can be my own.

Where my life can be my own.
Take me away
Take me away.

I'm really unsure, but I think it is about someone who can't live his life like he wants to and he wish he can change his life.

I think that it's about a person that did something with consquences. "This is the price I've payed and it's taking it's toll." Then not regretting it, but wishing that they could move on to a life that is without those consequences. "No regrets but I still ask why."

kinda sounds like King Claudius in William Shakespeare's "Hamlet;" how he killed his brother and he didn't regret that he had killed someone but toward the end how he started feeling guilty.

I think it's talking about the time they spent being high? I know people who done drugs and say it was a total waste of their time that could have been spent in better ways, but for some reason I guess howard doesn't regret...

Living with consequences drawn from love and trying to get over losing it but not regretting any of the time he had with her or something he did. Requiring and desiring the release of love. Missing or despising love deeply.

Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.
