I can see you stalking like a predator
I've been here before
Temptation calls like Adam to the apple
But I will not be caught
'Cause I can read those velvet eyes
And all I see is lies

No more poison
Killing my emotion
I will not be frozen
Dancing is my remedy, remedy, oh
Stop stop praying
'Cause I'm not not playing
I'm not frozen
Dancing is my remedy, remedy, oh

Move while you're watching me
Dance with the enemy
I've got a remedy
Oh, oh-oh, oh-oh
Move while you're watching me
Dance with the enemy
Here is my remedy
Oh, oh-oh, oh-oh

Spin me faster like a kaleidoscope
All I've got's the floor
Yeah, you can try but I've found the antidote
Music is the cure
So you can try to paralyze
But I know best this time

No more poison
Killing my emotion
I will not be frozen
Dancing is my remedy, remedy, oh
Stop stop praying
'Cause I'm not not playing
I'm not frozen
Dancing is my remedy, remedy, oh

Move while you're watching me
Dance with the enemy
I've got a remedy
Oh, oh-oh, oh-oh
Move while you're watching me
Dance with the enemy
Here is my remedy
Oh, oh-oh, oh-oh

La-da, da-da, la-da, la-da, da-da-da
Da-da, da-da, da-da-da-da, la-da

And when the music fades away
I know I'll be okay
Contagious rhythm in my brain
Let it play

No more poison
Killing my emotion
I will not be frozen
Dancing is my remedy, remedy, oh
Stop stop praying
'Cause I'm not not playing
I'm not frozen
Dancing is my remedy, remedy, oh

Move while you're watching me
Dance with the enemy
I've got a remedy
Oh, oh-oh, oh-oh
Move while you're watching me
Dance with the enemy
Here is my remedy
Oh, oh-oh, oh-oh

Move while you're watching me
Dance with the enemy
I've got a remedy
Oh, oh-oh, oh-oh
Move while you're watching me
Dance with the enemy
Here is my remedy
Oh, oh-oh, oh-oh

This is my favorite song off Hands, and I'm glad she's making this the second single. I'd bet my life that this becomes a worldwide hit... Another great RedOne production!

    Song Meaning

"Move while you're watching me dance with the enemy" ???? Why is she dancing with the enemy? That is betrayal and intended to hurt someone. Why is she glorifying this?

Here is my take on the lyrics to this song. Though I'm not so sure how accurate it is, it's just what I think when I hear the song.

I can see you stalking like a predator I've been here before Temptation calls like Adam to the apple But I will not be caught 'Cause I can read those velvet eyes And all I see are lies

This part is about how the singer is at some sort of dance club and someone, the "predator" is flirting with / trying to seduce her, but she's not going to fall for his charisma, or his act, and get caught up in his web. In other words, she's not going to fall for his seduction this time - she knows better.

No more poison Killing my emotion I will not be frozen Dancing is my remedy, remedy

This part is about how she's not going to let the aforementioned someone ruin her fun or make her sad, 'cause she's not going to give him a chance, and that she's going to dance and just have fun instead.

Stop, stop prayin' 'Cause I'm not playin' I'm not frozen Dancin' is my remedy, remedy

Pretty much, "stop prayin' 'cause I'm not playing" means, again, she's not going to play his game and fall for his tricks (again, possibly, as the song possibly suggests that it happened before and she's smart enough not to fall for it a second time.)

Then most of that just repeats with different lyrics, but the same general meaning. The girl isn't going to fall for his charm and she's just there to dance, and just letting go, having fun and dancing is keeping her from considering doing anything more. Oh, and the "dancing with the enemy" part could be about her dancing with the guy who was trying to seduce her.

Summary: Not a chance mister, I'm dancing the night away and not going to fall for any of your tricks 'cause I know how to ignore them.

Or something like that. Now that's what came to my head, but I'd love to see a different take on this. :'D So if anyone wants to contribute another idea...? Do so~

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
